Borderlands 3 Trials take place in specific locations which require you to head back to Sanctuary once you find the mission giver markers.
Each mission will take you to one of six different proving grounds which will have different tests for you which compose mainly of you accomplishing objectives such as defeating enemies in certain areas and fighting a boss at the end.
Proving Ground Basics
The steps for the proving grounds are pretty much the same for all missions which consist of two types per trial.
One quest is the discovery mission where you need to find a certain quest giver in each of the zones on different planets that will give you a quest which allows you to travel to the certain proving grounds.
After heading to one of the proving grounds, you will be able to access the trial in that location by speaking with the guardian in the area.
Basically, you need to do the discover quest and do the trial once the location is reached.
Once you have found a discover mission and navigated to the proving grounds, there will be a guardian that you may speak with to begin the trial.
You will need to fight through 3 different areas which will consist of sometimes similar but often a bit different sets of enemies form that specific tileset.
After the 3 areas have been cleared, there will be another area where a boss fight will occur as the final part of the trial.
Once the trial has been completed, there will be a chest waiting for you which you must open to finish the mission.
Any items inside the chest are yours too keep and you will also earn a large amount of cash.
There are also bonus objectives which you may accomplish in the mission which will end with a better end result such as killing a fallen guardian, finishing the trial without dying and finishing the trial within a certain amount of time.
Trials And Locations
1) Trial Of Survival
The Trial Of Survival is unlocked by heading to the Gradient Of Dawn which is done during the Discover The Trial Of Survival mission.
The Discover The Trial Of Survival mission can be found in Devil’s Razor located near Boomtown which is in Devil’s Razor on Pandora.
Navigating to the Gradient Of Dawn location and using the drop pod to the Proving Grounds – Survival will give you access to the Trial Of Survival.
2) Trial Of Cunning
The Trial Of Cunning is unlocked by heading to the Ghostlight Beacon which is done during the Discover The Trial Of Cunning mission.
The Discover The Trial Of Cunning mission can be found in Splinterlands which is connected Devil’s Razor on Pandora.
Navigating to the Ghostlight Beacon location and using the drop pod to the Proving Grounds – Cunning will give you access to the Trial Of Cunning.
3) Trial Of Discipline
The Trial Of Discipline is also unlocked like the others except by heading over to Precipice Anchor which will complete the Discover The Trial Of Discipline mission.
The Discover The Trial Of Discipline mission can be found by heading to the left from where you first arrive in the Meridian Outskirts on Promethea.
Navigating to the Precipice Anchor location and using the drop pod to the Proving Grounds – Discipline will give you access to the Trial Of Discipline.
4) Trial Of Instinct
The Discover The Trial Of Instinct mission will unlock the Trial Of Instinct mission once you navigate to the Wayward Tether.
An easy way to find the Discover The Trial Of Instinct mission, simply fast travel to Knotty Peak in the Floodmoor Basin and jump all the way down, making your way near the observation area.
Using the drop pod after navigating to the Wayward Tether with give you access to the Trial Of Instinct mission once you arrive in Proving Grounds – Instinct.
5) Trial Of Fervor
You may gain access to the Trial Of Fervor once you descend to the surface of Skydrowned Pulpit which is part of the Discover The Trial Of Fervor mission.
The Discover The Trial Of Fervor mission can be found as you make your way towards the Jakobs Manor but instead of heading for the lift, go left and climb up the area where you encounter Heckle.
After you use the drop pod that brings you to Proving Grounds – Fervor, you will have access to the Trial Of Fervor mission.
6) Trial Of Supremacy
The last of the trials is the Trial Of Supremacy which is made accessible after finishing the Discover The Trial Of Supremacy mission.
The Discover The Trial Of Supremacy mission may be found in Desolation’s Edge by heading straight across from the research center and heading to the left side of a temple.
Proving Grounds – Supremacy will be accessible after navigating to The Hall Obsidian which will allow you to access the Trial Of Supremacy.
