Smoldering Ashes Uses
Smoldering Ashes are used to place points into Season Blessings, which provide your character with bonuses during the Season of the Malignant.
These are beneficial as they can provide you with better progression and make grinding more rewarding depending on what you get.
Since these are obtained once you reach level 40 and beyond, the bonuses they provide are more beneficial once you reach higher World Tiers.
The following are the Season Blessings you can purchase with Smoldering Ashes:
- Urn of Aggression (Additional XP from monster kills)
- Urn of Bargaining (Increased Gold from vendor sales)
- Urn of Reclamation (Better chance to get rare materials from salvage)
- Urn of Prolonging (Increases duration of all Elixirs)
- Urn of Malignance (Better chance to obtain powerful Malignant Heart drops)
Reallocating Smoldering Ashes
If you have placed Smoldering Ashes into the wrong urn or would like to remove them and use them for another Season Blessing, this can be done.
You can reallocate blessings from the Season Blessings menu, which will allow you to choose a different urn to get a blessing of your choice.
This makes it convenient for you to change the active Season Blessings depending on what you are currently doing during the season.
Is Smoldering Ashes Pay to Win?
Smoldering Ashes is not pay to win because there is a level requirement, which means it doesn’t matter if you purchase tiers in the Battle Pass.
Unless you reach the required level for each Smoldering Ashes in the Battle Pass, you will not be able to obtain them.
This makes it important for players to progress during the season and makes it more rewarding for those who grind hard.

A lot of players were initially bummed out about having to make new characters and a lot of other changes that happened for the Season for the Malignant.
One of the best things to make up for that was the introduction of the Season Blessings, which becomes a good addition to help players throughout the season.
Although these can only be obtained by reaching harder levels, players can easily get the first few and reallocate them often until more have been collected.
