As you travel through the Valley of the Strayed, you come across a Lonely Offering, which is a writing about keeping old traditions.
There happens to be an ancient statue nearby and the Lonely Offering is a hint of what needs to be done to receive a certain boon.
You will need to make your way to the ancient statue and see what awaits those who follow the old traditions.
How To Get Keeping the Old Traditions Quest?
The Keeping the Old Traditions side quest will begin once you interact with the Lonely Offering that can be found in the Valley of the Strayed.
Keeping the Old Traditions Objectives
1) Show the ancient statue that you keep the traditions
The Lonely Offering mentions “Through timeworn, you endure. Before your colorful kin, I say: Yes, I keep our traditions!” and this is a hint of what you need to do.
You will need to go near the ancient statue, which is marked on your map, and perform the “Yes” gesture to show that you follow the traditions.
This solves the puzzle, causing a Hidden Chest to appear, which is most likely what contains the rewards for those who have proven themselves.
2) Investigate the Hidden Chest
Once the Hidden Chest has appeared, you will be able to interact with it, which causes it to drop elixirs that are now yours to keep. (This ends the quest)
Keeping the Old Traditions Quest Rewards
After attempting to give the Ancient Crane Sword to Gerti, the quest will be complete and you will receive the following:
- 30 Dry Steppes Renown
You may obtain 2 elixirs from opening the Hidden Chest which may provide random elixirs. (We received a Weak Elixir of Lightning Resistance and a Weak Third Eye Elixir.
The Dry Steppes have been known to keep various traditions and it seems that the ancient statue has a mysterious magic that reacts to those who keep them.
You have proved that keeping the old traditions does have some benefits and the gift of these elixirs is the result of this.
There must be more like the one you have just encountered, which is certain to give you rewards for following hints that you find.
