Starfield Difficulty (Settings, Differences & Changing Them)

Starfield offers players the choice of enjoying the game as it was meant to be or taking on a challenge with a selection of difficulties.

If you are familiar with other Bethesda games such as Skyrim and Fallout 4, you may remember how the difficulties work in the game.

Choosing your difficulty isn’t something that you notice at first, but you can change it and this will not only make enemies harder to kill, you also get better loot.

All Starfield Difficulties

Starfield offers 5 difficulties for players to enjoy and with each of these difficulties, the damage and chance to encounter legendary enemies.

The following are the difficulties in Starfield:

  • Very Easy
  • Easy
  • Normal
  • Hard
  • Very Hard

The only difference is how much damage you deal to enemies as well as how much they can damage you with the addition of legendary enemies being more frequent.

How To Change Starfield Difficulty?Starfield All Difficulty Settings

To change the difficulty in Starfield, you will need to head into settings from the main menu or when you are already playing.

You will need to select Gameplay to display the different options in the menu, which includes the Starfield Difficulty.

From here you can select the difficulty you want, and it will be applied to the game whether you have already started playing or not.

What Does Difficulty Change?

Changing the difficulty will alter the damage in the game, causing a lower difficulty to make enemies soft as butter while a higher difficulty makes them appear to receive reduced damage.

With a higher difficulty, you are more likely to come across legendary enemies, who are often known to drop better loot.

This gives players both a challenge and a reward for taking on the game or enemies while their difficulty is set to higher levels.

Verdict

Players who want to experience the story and have a seemingly easier experience can opt for Very Easy or Easy to take enemies out faster.

Those who want to play the game the way it was meant to be can opt for Normal or even go for Hard if they find Starfield too easy.

If you want to challenge yourself and get better rewards, you can go for Very Hard but keep in mind that enemies are harder to kill, which often means you need more ammo.
