You and Yorin made your way to the Weeping Cairns where you fought several waves of spirits as your companion was opening the entrance.
With the Weeping Cairns now opened, you will need to head inside where you will explore and find a way to get out of the other side.
Lilith’s passing may have caused a disturbance and you will need to be ready for the horrors that you may face within.
How To Get Exhuming the Forgotten Quest?
Exhuming the Forgotten begins right after you have completed the Encroaching Shadows quest, where you previously protected Yorin as he opened the entrance to the Weeping Cairns.
Exhuming the Forgotten Quest Objectives
1) Enter the Weeping Cairns
With the entrance now unblocked, you will need to head into the Weeping Cairns with Yorin, which will take you into Mourner’s Passage.
2) Find the path through the Weeping Cairns with Yorin
Once you are inside Mourner’s Passage, make your way through the area and continue following the path until you reach a chamber with a blocked passage.
Someone has blocked the path and you will need to find a way to open it as Yorin stays behind to figure out what is needed.
3) Find and place the missing Wardstone within the Runic Standing Stone
You will need to search the area (we went west) to locate the Wardstone, which needs to be brought back to Yorin.
As you explore the area, the location of the Warstone will be revealed, which requires you to destroy an Overgrown Wardstone Altar.
Grab the Wardstone after destroying the altar and head back to Yorin to place it into the Runic standing Stone to unlock the passage.
4) Help Yorin open the Runed Passageway
Wait for the passage to open, which will cause Yorin to start following you again as the two of you make your way deeper into the Weeping Cairns.
5) Find the path through the Weeping Cairns with Yorin
Continue making your way until you reach a door that can be opened, which leads you to an altar, which will have traces of Lilith’s passing.
6) Speak with Yorin
Interact with Yorin to speak with him, which causes him to read the words on the altar and this will wake up the Tormented Spirits in the Weeping Cairns.
7) Defeat the Vengeful Wildwood
There will be two Vengeful Wildwood minibosses that appear, which are the Hellcaller Vengeful Wildwood and the Bloodthirsty Vengeful Wildwood that you will need to defeat.
8) Find the path through the Weeping Cairns with Yorin
After defeating the Vengeful Wildwood, you and Yorin will need to continue by going through a chamber door until you reach a grave.
9) Speak to Yorin
Speak to Yorin and he will reveal that Airidah has aligned with Lilith, meaning that she has already gotten to one of Donan’s companions and is working with them.
10) Find the exit from the Weeping Cairns
Continue going through the path and you will soon reach the exit, which will be a large area marked on your map.
11) Enter the Ancestor Heights
Another location will be accessible once you reach the end of the Mourner’s Passage in the Weeping Cairns and you will need to interact with it at the entrance.
Exhuming the Forgotten Quest Rewards
Exhuming the Forgotten will be complete once you have exited the Weeping Cairns, which begins the Harrowed Lament quest as well as rewards you with XP and Gold.
Verdict
As you traveled through the Weeping Cairns, it seems as if the place had already been forsaken but this was something that Airidah was supposed to be overseeing.
It seems that Lilith had already made her way through the Weeping Cairns and there are signs of Airidah having been aligned with the demon.
