The Firebreak Manor was previously attacked and this is presumed to be due to Lilith’s passing after an attempt to get to Donan.
You and Donan believe that Lilith will go after two of his companions after failing to convert him to her side at his manor.
You will need to head to Braestaig to search for one of Donan’s companions and see if you can get to them before Lilith does.
How To Get Encroaching Shadows Quest?
The Encroaching Shadows quest is obtained along with the Feral Nature quest, which comes after you have completed Dark Omens.
During the Dark Omens quest, you fought to save Firebreak Manor before realizing that Lilith has gone after Donan’s companions.
Encroaching Shadows Quest Objectives
1) Search for evidence of Lilith near Braestaig
You will need to make your way to Braestaig by following the marker until you reach the village, which is where you will need to investigate.
2) Speak with Chieftain Asgail
Once you look around the village, you will find a person named Chieftain Asgail who you will need to talk to to find out about Lilith’s passing.
Chieftain Asgail will be having a conversation with Knight Ornas before you can speak with her and you will need to wait.
3) Speak with Yorin
After you have spoken to Chieftain Asgail, you will need to speak to Yorin to let him know that you are ready to search for Airidah.
4) Find the entrance to the Weeping Cairns with Yorin
You will need to make your way to the marked area with Yorin to reach the Weeping Cairns, which is where you will start investigating.
5) Speak with Yorin
The path will be blocked but Yorin will have already found a clue and you will need to speak to him to continue.
6) Defend Yorin and defeat the incoming spirits
As Yorin attempts to unblock the path, you will need to protect him from enemies until he gets it open, which will require you to defeat several waves of them.
Once you have cleared the last wave of spirit, Yorin will finally be able to open the path and the quest will be complete.
Encroaching Shadows Quest Rewards
The Encroaching Shadows quest will be complete once the entrance is open, which rewards you with XP and Gold based on your level.
A new quest called Exhuming the Forgotten will begin right after Encroaching Shadows has been completed, continuing your search within the Weeping Cairns.
Verdict
Your arrival did not seem to be appreciated by some of those within Braestaig but Yorin believes that you can help them.
After finally getting the entrance to the Weeping Cairns opened, it looks like you will need to head inside to continue with Yorin.
The companion that Lilith has sought to corrupt is a druid named Airidah and the Weeping Cairns will be the first place to look.
