Rare Mushrooms are a consumable resource, much like Rare Flowers but with different effects but similar item crafting.
These are usually found in small numbers and just as their name states, they are indeed rare at most times when you don’t know where to get them.
Luckily, with the right locations and techniques, you can farm an abundant number of Rare Mushrooms in no time.
How to Farm Rare Mushroom?
Rare Mushrooms can easily be farmed by harvesting mangrove trees in the swamp, which is best done with certain creatures such as the Ankylosaurus, Mammoth, or Therizinosaur.
You may also obtain Rare Mushrooms when you harvest Crystals, but this only comes in a small amount, unlike the higher rate you get from the swamp.
Being that the Rare Mushroom causes hallucinations, it can also be obtained by Hallucinogen mushrooms found in Aberration.
Rare Mushroom Uses
Unlike Rare Flower, Rare Mushrooms do not have that many uses but are still necessary when crafting certain items.
Eating a Rare Mushroom on its own will restore more hunger than Cooked Meat, but eating once would cause your player to suffer from the Hallucinogenic Spores effect. (Screen goes dark for 10 seconds)
Rare Mushrooms can be used to craft the following items:
- Re-Fertilizer
- Lesser Antidote
- Superior Kibble
- Shadow Steak Saute
- Mindwipe Tonic
When it comes to taming a Procoptodon, you may use Rare Mushrooms as this is its favorite food to eat, making the taming process faster and more efficient.

Rare Mushroom Expiration
Unlike most consumables that expire, Rare Mushrooms take a much longer time, and even longer when preserved.
Rare Mushrooms will expire after 3 days before them being harvested from their source.
Verdict
Rare Mushrooms are not the best food when adventuring, but if you are just sitting around in the base and starving, you can munch on a few and wait out the effects.
Mindwipe Tonics require Rare Mushrooms, which is why it is important to have some around when you want to craft them, as well as other consumables.
When it comes to farming Rare Mushrooms, you can settle for Crystals if you only need a few, otherwise, the swamp biome is your best bet for large amounts.
