After diverting Zorah Magdaros from its path, things seemed quite peaceful in Astera but there had been a strange incident where a member of the Fourth was attacked which The Handler thinks should be investigated.
Reports have confirmed that a Pukei-Pukei had been spotted in the Wildspire Waste and has caused quite some damage.
The monster should not be in Wildspire Waste in the first place and it is up to you to go investigate to find out if the rumors are true.
Objectives
Your quest requires that you search the Wildspire Waste to see if the Pukei-Pukei really has appeared there and put an end to it if it does.
Walkthrough
Start off by making your way towards the swamp in the Wildspire Waste which is around Sector 2 as this is a more suitable habitat for the Pukei-Pukei.
As you look around the swamp, be careful to watch out for the Rathian while you search for the Pukei-Pukei’s tracks and follow them until they lead you to the monster.
The tracks will lead you to the Pukei-Pukei and it will not know of your presence at first, giving you the upper hand.
Begin attacking the Pukei-Pukei in order to start dealing as much damage as you can before it attempts to escape.
Once you deal enough damage, the Pukei-Pukei will fly off in an attempt to escape but can be traced back to the swamp.
Follow the tracks or head straight for the swamp and start attacking the Pukei-Pukei again.
While in the swamp, you may encounter a Rathian which will attack you and the Pukei-Pukei, making it hard to continue the fight head-on.
Once you have dealt sufficient damage to the Pukei-Pukei in the swamp, it will attempt to escape once more unless you are able to kill it, causing it to fly off to an area nearby.
Chase the Pukei-Pukei down again and start attacking it to force it back to the swamp by making its health critical.
Once the Pukei-Pukei’s health is critical, it will fly back to the swamp where it can rest and you will be able to attack it while it is doing so.
Take the opportunity to deal the finishing blows so that you can slay the Pukei-Pukei and complete the quest.
Quest Rewards
After you have slayed the Pukei-Pukei, the Invader In The Waste quest will be complete and you will be rewarded with 7200 Zenny.
Once the Pukei-Pukei has been dealt with, the Searching For Rathian Tracks task will be available which you will need to do in expeditions in order to unlock the next quest called Tickled Pink.
Tips
- Since the Pukei-Pukei will mostly likely dwell in the swamp, this makes it a good area to start searching for its tracks but eventually you will find it just outside one of the entrances.
- Take care when fighting the Pukei-Pukei in the swamp because there will be a Rathian nearby which will attack you or the monster.
- Be sure to bring Antidote with you to counter the Pukei-Pukie’s poison and always roll if the Rathian manages to set you on fire.
