Ark Terror Bird (How to Tame, Drops, Food, Location…)

Ark Terror Bird

Phorusrhacidae Rapidesulotor is an aggressive bird-like carnivore that appeared in the late Paleocene.

The Terror Bird is a large flightless bird that closely resembles a human sized dodo with a much more threatening beak and an attitude to match.

In the wild Terror Birds are dangerous creatures that are usually seen roaming around in rabid flocks attacking anything that crosses their path.

Smart humans try to avoid areas where Terror Birds are seen due to their aggressive nature as they will chase down and relentlessly attack their prey until it is dead or escapes.

Tribes use these quick land creatures and their ability to slow their descent from high places extending its range for traveling and scouting areas for resources or potential threats.

Dossier

Dossier Summary

The Terror Birds are violent creatures that use their hardened beaks to bash and maim their prey, having the nature and predatory patterns of its older cousins the carnotaurus or tyrannosaurus rex when hunting.

Although this creature has wings, they are too small in size to allow the Terror Bird to fly and instead is used to slow the speed of which they fall which is similar in a way to gliding.

Usually tamed for combat or scouting, these creatures can cover a lot of ground quickly with their fast ground speed and ability to glide when falling from high places.

Abilities

Glide

Using their small wings, Terror Birds are capable of flapping them at such speeds that they slow their descent when jumping or falling.

This allows more space to be traveled when leaping or falling off of areas, adding to its capability to scout well.

Uses

Scout

Due to their ability to cross large gaps by using their ability to slowly descend and their quick speed on the ground, Terror Birds make excellent mounts for exploring the island.

Combat Mount

These creatures are a slightly tougher than other small mounts and can be used to chase, fight and maneuver around during fights, making a experienced rider quite deadly when it comes to trapping and assaulting other survivors or mounts.

Travel Mount

Terror Birds are good mounts to have traveling, being able to glide across gaps and having an above average health pool than other mounts, giving it a better chance of survival in the open.

Taming Mount

The Terror Bird is very fast and can use its wings to get around safely which also helps it chase down creatures that you are taming or in order to help kite against predators that are chasing it.

How to Tame Terror Bird?

Terror Birds hunt in flocks, making them hard to tame and it would be best to find a lone Terror Bird and using a Bola to immobilize it.

In the event that there are other Terror Birds around, you can also use a Bola on them and take them out before initiating the taming process.

Once immobilized you can use dinos with torpor attacks or torpor weapons like the tranq rifle to quickly knock them out.

Overview

In times of war, Terror Birds, being small and nimble provide an advantage as they can easily get around terrain and charge around to flank enemies that are unaware.

Inside cave systems, Terror Birds are great mounts as they can help when crossing over dangerous gaps and can fight off other enemies while also being useful to tank damage and allow its rider to attack.

Mobility is one of this creatures best features and while most survivors are used to fighting common tames, a spontaneous creature such as a Terror Bird is just the right option to confuse and outsmart them.
