Fish Oil is one of the ingredients that was introduced when the Plains of Eidolon first came out and is a resource used in crafting various items from the update.
While these resources are not directly dropped from enemies, they can be obtained by a process of fishing and processing the fish that you obtain.
While this resource can sometimes be needed for various reasons, the proper techniques will allow you to obtain a substantial amount.
Where To Get Fish Oil?
Fish Oil can only be obtained when you are at Cetus, as you need to process it within the village, which is at the Plains of Eidolon on Earth.
You can head over to Cetus via navigation or may enter it from the Plains of Eidolon by heading towards the gate entrance.
How To Get Fish Oil
To obtain Fish Oil, you will first need to head over to the Plains of Eidolon and catch fish, which can be done through fishing.
Once you have obtained one or more fish, you can now head into Cetus and will have to speak to Fisher Hai-Luk to process them.
Speak to Fisher Hai-Luk and select the Cut Fish option, which will bring you to a menu where you can select the fish you want to process.
Depending on the fish and its size, you will get Fish Oil along with other resources related to the fish that you have selected.
It is possible to select multiple fish and specify how many of them you want to cut, with more fish selected providing you with a larger quantity of Fish Oil.
Converting Fishes (Cutting)
The type of fish as well as its size determines how much Fish Oil and other materials you will get from each fish.

Fish Oil Farm Technique
Catching fish is not that hard in the Plains of Eidolon and you should know the fish well and make sure you have one of each spear.
Using the right spear can help you catch fish with a single hit, making it faster for you to collect a lot by the end of your session.
We suggest that you find a good spot where there is a lot of water, far away from enemies that can attack you while you fish.
Using bait and Luminous Dye is suggested as these can make it easier for fish to appear, especially with the dye highlighting them.
After you have obtained a lot of fish, you can head back to Cetus to have them cut, providing you with a ton of Fish Oil.
Fish Oil is one of the easiest resources you can get as long as you can set aside some of your time to go fishing in the Plains of Eidolon.
You can sometimes catch fish with a single throw of your Fishing Spear and they tend to respawn after a few seconds or minutes.
If you want to get your hands on a lot of Fish Oil, it’s best to target Murkrays as they provide a lot of Fish Oil when cut.
