Resident Evil 4 Remake has a lot of challenges that give you things to do aside from finishing the main story of the game.
One of these is the challenge known as the Revolution Wind-Up Challenge, which has you going after Clockwork Castellans that are in each of the chapters.
There are a total of 16 Dolls in the game, and every chapter introduces a way for you to get to a new one as you play the game.
What Are Clockwork Castellans?
Clockwork Castellans or Salazar Dolls appear to be a toy or collectible item that people would have made to represent the Salazar family.
Although these toys were meant to be a sign of support to the family, people started to hate them for what they have been doing.
Now that time has gone by and the Salazar family is now a disgrace, it looks like someone is offering a reward for someone who can get rid of the wind-up dolls.
All Clockwork Castellans Locations
The following is a list of all the Clockwork Castellans that are in Resident Evil 4 Remake and where to find them.
Chapter 1 Doll Location (Lakeside Settlement)
The first Clockwork Castellan can be found at the Lake Settlement in Chapter 1 inside the house to the right when you first enter the area.
Once you are in the house, you will be able to see a Salazar Doll at the top near a hole in the roof when you look up.
Chapter 2 Doll Location (Abandoned Factory)
After you have used the Hexagonal Emblem to open the gate at the abandoned factory you will eventually come across a small hut before finding the Chainsaw Villager.
If you enter the hut and look to your right, you will see that a Clockwork Castellan is in the corner on top of a hay bale.
Chapter 3 Doll Location (Quarry)
As you make your way to the Lake, you will pass by The Merchant which has a Lake Jetty at the bottom where you can leave a boat later on.
If you head down the ladder and go straight where the light is near the water, a Clockwork Castellan will be above some boxes next to the destroyable barrel.
Chapter 4 Doll Location (Forest Altar)
Once you have access to a boat during Chapter 4, you can head to the Lakeside Village and unlock the gate at the end that leads to the Forest Altar.
Head straight past the altar going towards the fence at the end and look to your left to find the Salazar Doll.
Chapter 5 Doll Location (Village Chief’s Manor)
For the Clockwork Castellan Doll that becomes accessible in Chapter 5, you will need to go to the Village Chief’s Manor and go into the attic.
You will need to boost Ashley so she can lower the ladder and once you’re in the attic, turn to your left and you will see the wind-up doll behind a bucket next to a chess set.
Chapter 6 Doll Location (Checkpoint)
Just as you are making your way to the Checkpoint, there will be a wind-up doll near the entrance before you make your way inside.
If you look across the flaming pile of wood, you will see that the wind-up doll is near the edge just across the gap.
Chapter 7 Doll Location (Treasury)
After you have fought with the Garrador and have made your way out of the dungeon, you will find yourself inside a cellar.
A Clockwork Castellan Wind-up doll will be on top of the shelf next to the green herb and can easily be seen if you look up a bit.
Chapter 8 Doll Location (Castle Battlements)
Once you reach the Castle Battlements, you will need to make your way through the gates and come out of the second tower.
Once out of the second tower, head over to the first and go to the very top where a Salazar Doll will be waiting on top of some sandbags.
Chapter 9 Doll Location (Courtyard)
In Chapter 9, you will be starting near the courtyard and to find the Clockwork Castellan here, you simply need to go down and head for the back of the stairs.
Going to the back of the stairs requires that you go around the maze and once you reach it, the Wind Up Doll will be in the corner opposite a First Aid Spray.
Chapter 10 Doll Location (Depths)
After being thrown down into the depths, you need to make an escape that leads you through the sewers heading to the underground laboratory.
Along the way you will find one of the Castellan Clockwords upside down in one of the grates that is just opposite of The Merchant.
Chapter 11 Doll Location (Stopover)
During the part where you and Luis Serra need to ride a minecart, you will stop at the Stopover area and this is where another Wind-Up Doll can be found.
Make your way up the stairs and look above the door in the center, which is where a wind-up doll will be.
Chapter 12 Doll Location (Clock Tower)
Once you reach the Clock Tower, you will be able to find a wind-up doll at the very bottom where the base of the Salazar Statue stands.
Keep to your left when you enter the Clock Tower and you will be able to find the wind-up doll on top of a container that can be found under the stairs.
Chapter 13 Doll Location (Wharf)
A few areas later from the wharf, you will find yourself looking at two paths, one is a dead end on the right with some loot and the left is the path to your objective.
If you turn right where the huge gate and a lot of crates are located, you can find one of the wind-up dolls near the forklift.
Chapter 14 Doll Location (Campsite)
Another Clockwork Castellan wind-up doll can be bound in the room above the Campsite, which can be reached after you pass the Amber Storeroom.
Head towards the Campsite and take the first right to head up the hidden path and take another right to find the room, which has a Clockwork Castellan on top of the lockers.
Chapter 15 Doll Location (Specimen Storage)
Another Clockwork Castellan can be found in the Specimen Storage building, which leads to a room to the right of the second room.
Enter the small room and move to the side before looking up and you will see that a wind-up doll is sitting on the wooden beam.
Chapter 16 Doll Location (Underground Passage)
After defeating Saddler, you will be making a run for it but just as you are about to reach the jet ski to escape, you can find the last Clockwork Castellan doll in a large room.
The room will be full of enemies that are all disabled and you can find the Wind-Up Doll next to a forklift a little above it.
Clockwork Castellans Achievement Rewards
Destroying all of the Clockwork Castellans Wind-Up Dolls will complete the Revolution Wind-Up Challenge, which also unlocks the Primal Knife.
This will allow you to purchase the Primal Knife with Challenge Points in the Extra Content Shop to use as a bonus weapon.
Verdict
The Clockwork Castellans is quite the challenge but the reward that comes after is very worth it, especially if you love using knives now and then.
Some of the wind-up dolls can be returned if you have missed them during a chapter while others will be unavailable if you have progressed too far.
Don’t worry about missing any since the progress for all the dolls is carried over to all games, so starting a new one will allow you to find the leftover ones.
