With each season in Diablo 4, there is always something new for players to utilize as they take on the forces of hell, and in Season 9, you get a taste of Horadric Spellcrafting.
The Horadric Spellcraft feature allows you to create your very own spells with Catalysts, Infusions, and Arcanas, but these can further be improved with Horadric Phials.
To get Horadric Phials, there are certain activities that you will want to grind as they are exclusive to a specific source, and if you plan on making upgrades, you will need plenty.
Where To Get Horadric Phials?
Horadric Phials do not come from any specific region but rather from certain activities, which are the Nightmare Dungeons, Escalating Nightmares, as well as Horadric Strongrooms.
Nightmare Dungeons have been around for a long time, while Escalating Nightmares are a new type of continuous Nightmare Dungeon that provides better rewards.
Horadric Strongrooms were recently added in Season 9 and can be found within Nightmare Dungeons and Escalating Nightmares.
How To Get Horadric Phials?
1) Nightmare Dungeons
Nightmare Dungeons are one of the earliest sources you can rely on to get Horadric Phials, and as you progress through the Seasonal Questline, you will be doing many of these.
Defeating enemies in Nightmare Dungeons sometimes results in Horadric Phials dropping, and these will automatically be picked up when approached or if you have an active pet.
Horadric Phials often drop from stronger enemies, and so does the amount that drops when and if they do. (This includes Elites, Dungeon Boss, and even The Butcher)
2) Escalating Nightmares
Escalating Nightmares are an enhanced version of Nightmare Dungeons, providing you with 3 different dungeons that you may fight your way through.
While delving through these dungeons, enemies may drop Horadric Phials when defeated, and you can get them from other sources as you proceed.
When done on Torment I or higher, you may face Astaroth at the end, and upon defeating him, you will be able to obtain a ton of Horadric Phials from him, along with other loot.
3) Horadric Strongrooms
One of the best ways to obtain Horadric Phials is to complete Horadric Strongrooms, which can be found in Nightmare Dungeons or Escalating Nightmares.
These are bound to appear in the said dungeons by chance while you explore them and will be guaranteed if your sigils have the “Horadric Strongroom” affix.
Once you find a Horadric Strongroom, complete the activity, and you will obtain Horadric Phials from the boss as well as the Horadric Cache that appears.
4) Season Journey Rewards
The Season Journey of Season 9: Sins of the Horadrim has various rewards that you can claim from both completing Objectives and Season Journey Chapters.
Some of these rewards will include Horadric Phials, and as you move on to more difficult chapters, the amount of Horadric Phials rewarded increases.
This may not be the most efficient way to get Horadric Phials, but it can be a nice boost when you plan on upgrading certain Catalysts, Infusions, or Arcanas early.
Horadric Phials Uses
1) Upgrading Horadric Spellcraft
One of the earliest uses for Horadric Phials is upgrading your Horadric Spellcraft, which includes the Catalysts, Infusions, as well as Arcanas.
Spending Horadric Phials to level up your Horadric Spellcraft will increase the effects of all of these, allowing you to utilize more powerful Horadric Spells with better effects.
As you continue to upgrade your Horadric Spellcraft, the number of Horadric Phials will increase for each rank that you want to upgrade to per Catalyst, Infusion, or Arcana.
2) Crafting Horadric Jewels
Once you have reached Tier 10 with your Horadric Knowledge, you may unlock the Horadric Cache, which allows you to find Horadric Jewel Tomes later.
Upon changing to Torment I or higher difficulties, Horadric Tomes have a chance to drop from Horadric Strongrooms and may be used to unlock Horadric Jewel Recipes.
Horadric Phials are needed when it comes to crafting Horadric Jewels, which may be socketed into equipment for bonuses. (Craft at Horadric Lapidary)
3) Purchase Horadric Knowledge
If you have plenty of Horadric Phials and currently have no use for them at the moment, these may be used to increase your Horadric Knowledge.
You may purchase Horadric Knowledge from the Horadric Lapidary to quickly reach higher tiers with the Horadric Focus, allowing you to unlock rewards earlier.
The following may Horadric Knowledge may be purchased:
- Horadric Knowledge (Provides 50 Reputation)
- Moderate Horadric Knowledge (Provides 100 Reputation)
- Substantial Horadric Knowledge (Provides 200 Reputation)
Note: You must reach Tier 15 with your Horadric Focus to purchase Horadric Knowledge.
How To Get More Horadric Phials?
As you progress through Season 9: Sins of the Horadrim, you will be able to increase the amount of Horadric Phials that drop.
This can be done by claiming the rewards from the Horadric Focus when you reach Tier 4, 9, and 15 with your Horadric Knowledge.
Additionally, you may use Smoldering Ashes to purchase Urn of Remnants levels, which boosts the number of Horadric Phials that can be found in the Horadrim’s Locket.
Verdict
Horadric Phials are one of the most important currencies that you will get during Season 9, especially since it has several uses.
Being the Seasonal Currency for Sins of the Horadrim, you will want to be able to farm a ton of Horadric Phials to quickly progress through the season. (Using it for upgrades and crafting)
At higher difficulties, such as Torment I onwards, you can expect to obtain more Horadric Phials from different sources as long as you can handle the chaos.
