How To Get & Use Infusions in Diablo 4 (Season 9)

With Season 9 in play, Diablo 4 has provided players with the ability to craft their spells using Catalysts, Infusions, and Arcanas.

While Catalysts work as the main spell that is added to one of your skills, and Arcanas are used for additional effects, Infusions alter the element and provide certain effects as well.

5 Infusions may be obtained, and before you can get your hands on them, you will need to progress with the Seasonal Questline.

Where To Get Infusions?

Infusions are obtained in the same way as Catalysts, which require you to progress through the Seasonal Quest in Season 9: Sins of the Horadrim.

These rewards are obtained at the same time as the Catalysts and may be viewed and equipped once they have been unlocked.

You will often complete Seasonal Quests at Cerrigar, which is where these are mainly unlocked after the completion of certain quests.

How To Get Infusions?

Infusions are often unlocked in a certain order, starting with the first one being rewarded as a reward for reaching Tier 1 with your Horadric Knowledge.

This can be claimed at the Horadric Focus, but for the other 4, you will need to complete some of the quests from this Season 9.

Completing certain Seasonal Quests will reward you with the Infusion right after the Catalyst that is unlocked, along with them is also obtained.

List of All Infusions and How to Get Them

1) Thunderous Particle – Alters your Catalyst to deal Lightning or Sparking damage, causing enemies that are damaged by it to arc Lightning damage to surrounding enemies every 3 seconds. Also deactivates monster Suppressor effects for 8 seconds. (Reward from the first rank of Horadric Knowledge)

2) Corrosive Vapor – Changes your Catalyst to deal Poison or Poisoning damage to enemies, which can cause enemies to take Poison damage over 4 seconds and can only be triggered every 3 seconds. Also deactivates monster Vampiric effects for 8 seconds. (Reward for completing “Bearing the Weight of Ghosts” Seasonal Quest)

3) Glacial Nimbus – Your Catalyst now deals Cold damage or Frostbiting damage that can cause enemies to become Chilled, which may happen once per enemy every 1 second. Also deactivates the monster’s Explosive effects for 8 seconds. (Reward or completing “Keepers of the Glen” Seasonal Quest)

4) Smoldering Ember – Causes your Catalyst to deal Fire or Burning damage, which can destroy enemy structures and has a 10% chance to ignite the ground beneath enemies to deal Burning damage over 5 seconds. Also deactivates monster Chilling Wind effects for 8 seconds. (Reward for completing “To Walk Where Spirit Tread” Seasonal Quest)

5) Nebulous Extract – Changes your Catalyst’s damage to Shadow and/or Corrupting damage, which may cause enemies to deal reduced damage for 7 seconds. Also deactivates monster Summoner effects for 8 seconds. (Reward for completing “The Unseeable Demands Their Gaze” Seasonal Quest.

How To Use Infusions?

Once an Infusion has been unlocked, you may view it in the Horadric Spellcraft menu, which can be accessed when you open your inventory.

There will be a slot in the center of Horadric Spellcrafting, which allows you to place one Infusion in it to alter your Catalyst’s element and provide additional effects.

You may only place one Infusion at a time and may swap them with another whenever you choose to do so.

Verdict

Infusions are a great way to cause additional effects to happen when you use skills that have a Catalyst assigned to them.

Depending on the Infusion you use, the elemental damage of the catalyst will change, and this can be helpful when it comes to debuffing your enemies.

Swapping Infusions can be done at any time, and it is a good idea to use one that will help you against certain enemies to give you an advantage in higher world difficulties.
