Warframe The Hex Quest Walkthrough

The Hex is a quest that was introduced in the Warframe 1999 update, which brings The Drifter to another time to search for Albrecht Entrati.

During the quest, The Drifter appears on December 31 1999 where the City of Hollvania is caught in a loop that has the same event repeating itself.

The city is under lockdown by the Scaldra while the Techrot continues spreading their infection as the citizens try to enjoy the new year before a reactor explosion goes off and annihilates them.

How To Get The Hex Quest?

The Hex is added to your collection of quests and may be started by heading to the Codex onboard your Orbiter.

Starting this quest will prevent you from doing any other activities and will require that you complete it before you can play normally.

You will be required to type the word “KALYMOS” to activate the quest and should be ready as this may take about 45 to 60 minutes to complete.

The Hex Quest Walkthrough

The quest begins with you controlling Arthur Nightingale, who is searching for his keys, and this has you heading to each of the members of The Hex. (Arthur plans to find Albrecht on his own)

This serves as a quick introduction to all the characters as you head to them one by one until you reach Eleanor Nightingale, who hands them over to Arthur.

Continue by making your way to the garage where Arthur’s Atomicycle needs to be accessed and a cutscene begins where the other members of The Hex join.

Interact with the Atomicycle after the cutscene and the whole team will ride out (Amir runs since he’s part of the Volt batch) to search for Albrecht Entrati.

After exiting the garage and reaching the city, you will need to proceed with making your way to the waypoint. (This can be done on foot or riding the Atomicycle)

Reaching the waypoint leads to an encounter with Major Neci Rusalka, who sends several Scaldra after you and you will need to fight through them to reach the next waypoint.

Reaching the next waypoint results in an H-04 Efervon Tank (This serves as a boss) that you must face, which can be damaged by attacking its weak spots.

The weak spots are the glowing circles on the corners of the tank and once you have dealt enough damage to it, you may freely attack any part of it until it is destroyed.

During the fight, a rocket launcher will be dropped, and you can make use of this to deal more damage to the tank once it is weakened, you may interact with the tank to finish it off.

Arthur catches a glimpse of Albrecht and Kalymos, who you will now need to follow by heading to the next waypoint.

Reaching the waypoint involves Arthur meeting The Drifter and the two of them get into a fight until Arthur takes him down, resulting in The Drifter being captured.

The Drifter is later interrogated by The Hex and this is where he explains what is going on, which results in them joining together to put a stop to Albrecht.

After the interrogation cutscene, you will be in control of The Drifter and will need to head to Quincy Issacs, who will provide you with basic gear. (Loaned Weapons)

Once you have gotten your equipment from Quincy, make your way to the garage and interact with the Atomicycle to head into the city. (Summon Atomicycle becomes available here)

Entering the city puts you into an Extermination Mission, which requires you to defeat 99 enemies all around Hollvania before making your way to where Entrati is supposed to be located.

Make your way to the marked area and there will be a room accessible by a door that has been boarded up with planks. (Attack the door to enter)

This begins a cutscene where The Drifter checks on Entrati who is sitting on a chair but this is revealed to be the Man in the Wall, who immediately disappears.

An ambush begins as several Scaldra are sent to your location and you will need to fight your way past them until you reach the waypoint.

Make your way to the extraction point and once you arrive, you will be taken back to the Hollvania Central Mall which serves as the headquarters for The Hex.

Arriving at the mall will require you to head to the group and this begins a cutscene where the next step will be planned by the group.

Since the loop has been broken and Entrati is nowhere to be found, the group plans to change things by heading to the reactor.

Once again you will head to the garage and ride out, where you will then be brought to start a Hell-Scrub Mission in Hollsvania.

The Hell-Scrub Mission requires that you survive for 10 minutes, by making sure the Survivability Counter does not reach zero.

There will be Hell-Scrubbers that are deployed, and you will need to defend them and destroy any spores that are attached so that you can use them to extend the Survivability Counter.

After the timer has finished and you have successfully survived, head to the extraction point to return to the headquarters.

Once back into the mall, make your way to Arthur, who has found Kalymos, and this results in you following Kalymos through a door.

This brings you to the Entrati Backroom, where interacting with the equipment reveals that Albrecht wants you to make sure The Hex fails to escape the loop.

Your equipment will be restored after the cutscene where you view the records is done and you may equip your necessary gear before heading to the garage to ride out.

Make your way to the rendezvous where you are to meet up with Aoi but this results in a trap and you will need to clear out the barricade of Scaldra in the area.

After clearing the enemies, you will need to survive for 60 seconds while waiting for Arthur to arrive on the scene but Aoi is attacked. (Arthur sends you to help her)

Make your way to Aoi and you will discover that she has been pinned by a vehicle, which you will need to lift by approaching and interacting with it.

The two of you ride one of the vehicles to get through without being noticed and you later encounter the Convoy Escort Vehicles.

While riding on the back of the vehicle, you will be using a Thermian RPG and will need to destroy the targets while in motion. 

Major Rusalka will appear and you will need to defeat her with the same methods, which results in her crashing into the vehicle in an attempt to take you down.

This results in a cutscene where Major Rusalka is left crawling on the ground and the group surrounds her, with Entrati appearing.

Entrati urges you to kill her as he claims that she is the glitch but The Drifter refuses to do this, which makes the Man in the Wall (Also known as the Indifference) send you away.

This leaves The Hex on their own, where they make their final plans to proceed without The Drifter, who they have nicknamed Marty.

The next part of the quest has you selecting one of the available Photoframes to choose from to begin the next series of missions.

Once a character has been chosen, make your way to the Zoo by following the waypoint and there will be an ambush waiting for you.

After you have cleared out all the enemies in the area, you will get to test out all of the Photoframes as they all have their parts to do in the mission.

Starting with Eleanor Nightingale, you will be in the Princess Lucina Zoological Gardens where she has been assigned to take control of the Techrot to use as backup in the fight.

This will be done by surviving for a short period before destroying the Rotpods until you face off against a Legacyte. (Destroy her minions before you can damage her)

Once the Legacyte has been defeated, you will need to interact with it to take control of it, which seems to be a way of subsuming it.

The scene shifts towards the Zariman Ten Zero, where you have been brought by the Man in the Wall and as The Drifter, you will search for a way out.

As you explore the Zariman Ten Zero, you will encounter visions of all The Hex members, hinting that their fates all lead to death.

After you have found all the members of The Hex on the Zariman Ten Zero, the scene shifts back to Hollvania where the city is celebrating. (Including a concert taking place)

Taking control of Amir, you will have to make your way to the reactor where you will need to survive until Eleanor arrives on scene.

The scene shifts once more and you will then be in control of Lettie, who is accompanied by Eleanor, who is now in control of the Techrot.

You will need to protect Eleanor as she makes her way through the tunnels and clear out the Efervon Troopers in the area as you proceed.

Eleanor uses the Techrots to open a path underground but later succumbs to the Techrot, which results in her attacking Lettie.

The next scene has you taking control of Quincy, who is providing support for the team from a building and you will need to shoot enemies to cover them.

During this part of the mission, a tank appears, and upon viewing it with his scope, it is already locked onto Quincy, which results in him being blown up.

Back in the reactor control room, Amir attempts to work his way with the control but the reactor begins to activate.

Aoi attempts to hold the reactor in but eventually gives in, which ends up with her being killed as Arthur rushes into the reactor room.

Within the radiator room, you will be using Arthur to clear out enemies including the Techrot Babau but this leaves Arthur trapped in a room contaminated with radiation, later killing him.

Amir is revealed to have been shot in the other room, where Albrecht Entrati appears as he claims he was too slow and The Drifter appears, having witnessed all of it.

Even after The Drifter is told to “just go” by Arthur, he believes that he can save them, and the Man In The Wall mentions “Not unless you know them” before shooting The Drifter.

In The Drifter’s last moments after being shot, he uses his Duviri Powers, which rewind the events to start over. (This completes the quest)

The Hex Quest Rewards

After the final events of The Hex quest, you will receive the following rewards which appear in a message sent to your inbox:

  • Magnetic Might Mod (Inbox)
  • 1 Forma (Inbox)
  • Atomicycle & Atomicycle Summon (During quest)
  • Rust Belt Livery Atomicycle Skin (During quest)
  • Access to Hollvania Game modes & bounties (Accessible from POM-2 PC)
  • Access to The Hex Syndicate and Hollvania Central Mall
  • Protokol Longsword Skin (If not earned in Warframe 1999 Demo)

Additionally, you will unlock the Kinemantik Instant Messaging (KIM) system that acts as a Romance & Relationship system with members of The Hex. (Access in POM-2 PC)

Another feature in the POM-2 PC (Found in your Orbiter) is the Calendar system, allowing you to obtain various rewards for progressing through the calendar. (Completing challenges)

Verdict

The Hex is a short story that involves members of a group of Photoframes who survive until after December 31, 1999, when they perish one by one.

With The Drifter stepping onto the stage, a new plan unfolded in an attempt to change things but once again they didn’t go too well but a lot has been learned.

Rewinding to the start of the events of 1999 will give The Drifter an advantage and probably after what he has experienced, things may change.
