Prologue to Tau is a series of story quests introduced with the Iceblade of Narin update, preparing the Tenno for their upcoming journey to the Tau System.
The storyline consists of two short chapters, Lua and Vessel, which feature playable sequences involving the Lotus and the giant Vessel.
Unlike Epoch Operation: Taubound, these quests are permanent additions to Warframe’s main story and can be replayed after completion.
How to Unlock Prologue to Tau?
Players must complete both The Hex and The Old Peace before the Prologue to Tau quests become available in the Codex aboard their Orbiter.
Once these requirements are met, open the Codex and look for Prologue to Tau under the Prologue Quests and Chapters section.
The quests were added on October 15, 2026, and do not require participation in Epoch Operation: Taubound or the collection of Moonflesh.
Tau Prologue: Lua Walkthrough
The Lua chapter begins with a message from Loid, informing players that the Lotus is preparing to enter the Dark Refractory within the Sanctum Anatomica.
Travel to the Sanctum Anatomica on Deimos and head toward the Dark Refractory, where players must use Transference and interact with the pool to continue.
This begins a memory sequence where players take control of the Lotus on Lua, fighting Sentient enemies using her two available abilities.
– Might of the Lotus: Fires a projectile that can damage enemies at a distance.
– Voice of the Lotus: Releases a shockwave that can damage nearby enemies.
The Lotus does not have access to conventional weapons during this sequence, so players must rely on her abilities and movement to deal with enemies.
Continue through the encounter until reaching the Void Pendula, which triggers the final cinematic and concludes the Lua chapter.
Tau Prologue: Vessel Walkthrough
The Vessel chapter begins by directing players to Kronia Relay on Saturn, where they must head to the Dry Dock to prepare their Vessel.
During this sequence, players can customize their Vessel by choosing between Arturos and Zioa and selecting its appearance before proceeding.
Once the Vessel has been prepared, open Navigation and select Dermacrust on Eris to begin the next part of the quest.
Players take control of the enormous Vessel, which can attack Infested enemies using its fists and two special abilities.
– Stomp: Creates a powerful area attack that damages nearby enemies.
– Vessel Gaze: Fires a destructive beam from the Vessel’s eye.
Move through the area while defeating Infested enemies and continue toward the large Infested creature found near the top of the terrain.
Defeat the creature using the Vessel’s attacks and abilities to trigger the final sequence, where the collected material is offered to Praghasa.
This completes the Vessel chapter and concludes the current Prologue to Tau storyline.
Prologue to Tau Rewards
Completing the Prologue to Tau storyline rewards players with the Taubound Honoria, a profile customization associated with the preparations for the journey to Tau.
The Honoria can be selected through the player’s profile after unlocking it, allowing it to be displayed without equipping anything on a Warframe.
The quest does not award Praghasa’s Operation rewards, which must be purchased separately using Moonflesh collected during Epoch Operation: Taubound.
Verdict
Prologue to Tau offers a short continuation of Warframe’s main storyline, allowing players to experience the Lotus’s memories and control a Vessel during combat.
Both chapters are straightforward to complete, with the Lua sequence focusing on the Lotus while Vessel introduces a different style of combat against the Infested.
Since the quests are permanent and replayable, players can complete them whenever they are ready without worrying about the deadline for Epoch Operation: Taubound.
