Both Warframes and weapons now have additional slots for their Mods, which are known as Exilus Slots, and these allow you to alter your builds with Exilus Mods.
Before Exilus Mods may be equipped, their slots need to be unlocked using the corresponding Exilus Adapters required, which can be obtained in different ways.
What Are Exilus Adapters?
Exilus Adapters are a type of item that can be consumed to unlock the potential of certain Warframes and weapons.
Multiple instances of this item may be obtained or crafted and may be used to unlock the Exilus Slots of a Warframe or a weapon.
Exilus Slots can be on Warframes, Primary Weapons, Secondary Weapons, and Melee Weapons, depending on which type of Exilus Adapter is needed.
Types of Exilus Adapters
1) Exilus Warframe Adapter
Exilus Warframe Adapters are used to unlock the Exilus Slot on Warframes only, allowing you to equip Warframe Exilus Mods.
These need to be used on each Warframe that you wish to unlock the Exilus Slot for, which makes it necessary to have one per Warframe that you wish to use Exilus Mods on.
These can be done when upgrading a Warframe and selecting the Warframe Exilus Mod Slot, which will prompt you to install one or purchase & install one.
2) Exilus Weapon Adapter
Exilus Weapon Adapters are used to unlock the Exilus Slot on Primary Weapons, Secondary Weapons, and Melee Weapons.
Archguns and Archmelee weapons for Archwings do not have Exilus Slots, as these are currently only available for weapons that your Warframe wields out of Archwing Mode.
Similar to Warframe Exilus Adapters, an Exilus Weapon Adapter is a one-time use item, and you will need one for each weapon that you want to unlock an Exilus slot for.

How To Use Exilus Adapters?
To unlock an Exilus Slot on a Warframe or weapon, select the Exilus Slot, and this will open up a prompt to install the required Exilus Adapter.
Once an Exilus Slot is accepted, you will have the option to install the Exilus Warframe Adapter or Exilus Weapon Adapter if you have one.
If you don’t have an Exilus Adapter for the Warframe or weapon, you will be prompted to purchase one with Platinum and to install it afterward.
