Valheim: Leather Scraps Farming

Valheim Leather Scraps

A lot of items in Valheim require similar resources and one of these resources is Leather Scraps, which has a few ways of being farmed.

Leather Scraps may be an item found early in the game such as when you kill Boars as well as when you mine in the Sunken Crypts at the Swamp biome but it is still required for a lot of items later on.

To farm them efficiently, you will need to know the possible ways on how to get Leather Scraps as well as the best ways.

How To Get Leather Scraps?

There are different ways to get Leather Scraps, this involves hunting, mining and even domesticating Boars to turn them into livestock.

Hunting Boars

Early on in the game, you will probably find out how to craft the basic weapons and you can use these to easily kill Boars.

Boars do not run away like Deers do and will attempt to ram into you, which makes it easy to farm them but be sure to eat up and not to fight a group on low health.

Upon death, Boars will mostly drop Leather Scraps along with Raw Meat which also increases in amount if the Boar has one or two stars, indicating a higher level.

Mine Muddy Scrap Piles in Sunken Crypt

Later on, in the game, you will eventually find yourself mining for Iron ore in the Sunken Crypts (located in the swamp biome) and while you do this, you can also collect Leather Scraps.

As you mine Muddy Scrap Piles in the Sunken Crypts, different items can drop such as Iron ore, Withered Bone, and Leather Scraps.

This is not the best way to get Leather Scraps but it is still a good way to collect them as you farm for Iron ores.

Hidden Muddy Scrap Piles in Swamp

Using a Wishbone, which you get after defeating Bonemass, you can find Muddy Scrap Piles in the swamp, instead of mining within the Sunken Crypts.

The Wishbone will give a signal when there is a Muddy Scrap Pile nearby and you can mine it just like you do in the Sunken Crypts, also giving a chance to get Leather Scraps.

How To Farm Leather Scraps From Livestock

Since you can tame Boars, you can keep two or more in a pen and feed them so that they breed, and eventually you will end up with an unlimited supply of Boars.

This allows you to kill a few Boars every once in a while, to harvest their Raw Meat and Leather Scraps for a fair supply.

The better the Boar level, the more Leather Scraps, and Raw Meat it will provide, so try to replace the lower-level Boars whenever you can for a better supply.

You can’t get Leather Scraps from Deer Hide

Boar Spawn Location

There are multiple Boar small locations around the map and these can be identified by their runestones which mark their spawn location.

You can set up traps nearby or visit the runestones often to check if more Boars have spawns so you can kill or tame them.

Sunken Crypt Location

You can find Sunken Crypts scatter in the larger instances of the Swamp biome which have an obvious appearance with green torches and an entrance leading into the dungeon.

You will have to have beaten The Elder first in order to get the Swamp Key item which allows you to open up the locked gates that allow entrance to the Sunken Crypts.

Valheim Boar Drops

You will need to resort to farming from Boars only, as Deers drop a different resource so basically, you can’t convert Leather into Leather Scraps.

The best way to get leather scraps is to kill Boars and taming them to save as livestock but you can also settle for other ways while farming for other resources.

You can only farm this resource from Boars or Muddy Scrap Piles and you cannot farm Leather Scraps from deer.
