Gone in a Flash (Optional Quest) in MHW

Gone in a Flash mhw optional quest

  • Quest Type: Optional Quest
  • Quest Location: Coral Highlands
  • Quest Rank: 5

The presence of an unusual force has been confirmed in the Coral Highlands and it has been figured out to be a Kirin.

Materials that can be obtained from the monster will be put to good use and the Impatient Biologist tends to use it for special equipment at the Ecological Research Center but the first one will be made for you.

Your task in this quest is to head over to the Coral Highlands and slay a Kirin once you have found where it is located.

Quest Info

  • Quest Type: Slaying Quest
  • Objective: Slay a Kirin
  • Quest Giver: Impatient Biologist (Astera)

Other Monsters:

  • Girros
  • Hornetaur
  • Raphinos

Begin the quest by starting out in Northeast Camp (12) and head down from the camp towards the right where a Legiana usually is found.

As you move from camp, you should come across Old Footprints of the monster but might not get much of a trail and should instead go towards the ledge that leads to Sector 8.

Wait near the ledge and a Kirin should arrive from Sector 8, allowing you to start attacking it until you kill it.

Proceed with attacking and chasing down the Kirin until its health is low which may lead it to run to Sector 15 where you can deal the killing blow.

Quest Rewards

The Gone In A Flash quest will be complete once you have slain the Kirin and you will be rewarded with 9,000 Zenny for your efforts.

The Impatient Biologist will reward you with a Thunderproof Mantle after the quest has been completed.

  • Bring status removing items such as Nulberry or Cleanser Booster to remove Thunderblight if you become inflicted with it from the Kirin’s attacks.
  • Pay attention to the Kirin when it is channeling thunder as it will usually strike you with it if you are too close or in front of it.
  • The Kirin can easily be killed if you attack fast and be sure to keep combos limited until it is stunned.
