Destiny 2 Gone Fishin Quest Steps

Upon the arrival of the Season of the Deep update, Guardians were introduced to a new feature in the game, which was fishing!

Before you can go on your fishing spree, you will need to finish up the Gone Fishin’ quest, which serves as an introduction to how fishing works.

During this quest, you will learn the basics of fishing such as how to get bait, find fishing spots, and catch and release fish into the aquarium at the Sonar Station.

How To Get Gone Fishin’ Quest?

Gone Fishin’ becomes available later after you have progressed through the earlier parts of Season of the Deep, which includes the Operation Thunderbolt mission in the seasonal quest.

In the Operation Thunderbolt mission, you obtain a Salvaged Fishing Tackle, which is later repurposed to allow you to begin fishing.

You can start the Gone Fishin’ quest by accepting it at the Sonar Station and will proceed by speaking to Suraya Hawthorne, who can be found at the Tower Bazaar.

Step 1: Speak to Suraya Hawthorne in the Tower Bazaar

The Drifter has suggested that you speak to Hawthorne about a Fishing Tackle that you recovered from the Arcology.

You will need to head over to the Tower Bazaar and speak with Hawthorne, who will give you a tutorial on how to get bait and go fishing.

Step 2: Collect Bait

The first thing you will need to do is obtain bait, which will increase your chances of getting better fish as this will provide you with better rewards.

You will need to do the Salvage or Deep Dive seasonal activities or complete other activities, public events, patrols or collect destination materials to get bait.

Step 3: Catch Fish in the Outskirts of the EDZ

Now that you have gotten your hands on some Bait, it’s time to go catch some fish, and the first place you will try this will be at the EDZ.

Head over to the EDZ and look for the Fishing Pond area, which will be marked on your map in destinations.

Once you have made it to the Fishing Pond, you will be able to go fishing once you are in the right spot, and from here, you will need to catch 5 fish.

Step 4: Catch Fish in The Cistern on Nessus

Once you are done catching fish in the EDZ, it’s time to try your luck somewhere else, which will be in The Cistern on Nessus.

Make your way to Nessus and travel to The Cistern, where another Fishing Pond will be marked on your map, and catch 5 fish again.

Step 5: Catch Fish in the Miasma in Savathun’s Throne World

Your last stop for fishing will be in Savathun’s Throne World and this needs to be made at the Miasma, which will also have a Fishing Pond marked on your map.

Head over to the marked location and begin fishing again until you catch 5 more fish before turning them in.

Step 6: Release Your Caught Fish at the Aquarium in the H.E.L.M.

Now that you have caught a lot of fish, it’s time to release them into the Sonar Station aquarium for some goodies.

Head to the H.E.L.M. and go to the aquarium console, where you will be able to turn in your fish for different rewards.

Step 7: Return to Suraya Hawthorne in the Tower Bazaar

You have completed the basics of fishing in Destiny 2 and will need to report back to Suraya Hawthorne to complete the quest.

You can find Suraya Hawthorne at the Tower Bazaar again and complete the quest by speaking with her once more.

Gone Fishin Quest Rewards

Completing, Gone Fishin’ quest will reward you with a Reckoning Weapons Engram and afterward, you can now head to the Fishing Ponds to capture fish.
