How to Get Bait in Destiny 2

With the new Fishing Feature being added to Destiny 2 with the release of Season of the Deep, Guardians now can go fishing.

This can be done by players whenever they want once they have gone through the Gone Fishin’ quest but casting your line is not enough to make the most of it.

To get better fish, you will need to use Bait as this can increase the quality of the fish that you obtain and allow you to get better rewards.

How to Get Bait?

There are several ways for you to get Bait during the Season of the Deep and these come in different amounts based on what activities or actions you do.

Once you have completed an activity or action, Bait will be added along with the rewards and will go straight to your Tackle Box.

You can check how much Bait you have by checking your Tackle Box, which should be in your inventory after you have done the Gone Fishin’ quest.

The following will reward you with Bait:

  • Salvage
  • Deep Dive
  • Gambit
  • Crucible
  • Vanguard Playlist
  • Public Events
  • Patrols
  • Collecting Destination Materials

Bait UsesFishing Tackle Container

Once you have obtained Bait, it will be stored in your Fishing Tackle and will automatically be used once you go fishing.

Each time Bait is used, you get a better chance of obtaining higher quality fish, which can lead to you getting your hands on Legendary or Exotic fish.

These can later be turned in to get Legendary or even Exotic rewards in the form of weapons or armor when you turn them in at the aquarium at the H.E.L.M.

Bait Carry Limit

The Bait that you obtain will go into your Tackle Box and there will be a limit of 500, preventing you from obtaining more if it is full.

How To Check Bait?

To check your Bait, open up your inventory and highlight the Tackle Box with your cursor, which will bring up its tooltip.

This will show you the amount of fish you have as well as how much bait you have remaining, allowing you to monitor it whenever you need to.

Checking your Tackle Box will also show you where the Exotic Fishing Pond is located, which will mention that there is increased activity in one of the spots.

Verdict

While Fishing is not as violent as the rest of the activities that you may be doing in the game, it is a pretty good way to get some rewards.

Bait is necessary if you want to get better fish and it would be best if you grabbed some before you went on a fishing spree.

Once you have a good amount of Fish in your Tackle Box, it would be good to deposit them in your aquarium to get rewards.
