After discovering an Osseous Fragment, you decide to bring it back to Sloane by heading to the Shaping Slab so she can examine it.
Upon examining the Osseous Fragment, she decides to hand it back to you as she states she doesn’t like it and decides that you keep it.
This leads you to find other Osseous Fragments that have been hidden at certain destinations, which eventually leads to you finding an Exotic Submachine Gun. (Barrow-Dyad)
How To Get The Taken Path Quest?
The Taken Path Quest becomes available from the Shaping Slab once you have found the first Osseous Fragment, which can be done in The Nether.
To do this, you will need to find the large Taken Orb and approach it, which will cause you to be sucked into a strange area with a puzzle.
We found the large Taken Orb in the big room where you fight a Tormentor Precept and this is noticeable if you look a bit above you.
Attempting to jump from below the Taken Orb will cause small platforms to appear and these will help you reach it.
Once you are close enough to the Taken Orb, you will be absorbed and brought into a different location where a puzzle can be found.
There will be a plate pointing toward a round plate that you will need to step on and once a glyph appears on the plate, step to your right.
This will take you to the other side of a barrier, where you will be able to pick up your first Osseous Fragment.
Taking the Osseous Fragment back to the Shaping Slab in Eris Morn’s Apartment will allow you to claim The Taken Path Quest.
The Taken Path Quest Steps (Objectives)
Step 1: You’ll need to see through the Hive’s efforts to hide secrets
This Quest Step is easy since all you need to do is unlock the Scotopic Rune, which can be done using Sigil Shards.
Once you have unlocked the Scotopic Rune, you will need to equip it to continue searching for more Osseous Fragments.
Step 2: Find something the Hive have concealed somewhere in Sorrow’s Harbor
With the Scotopic Rune active, make your way to Sorrow’s Harbor and search for the secret hidden within. (Arriving will despawn the enemies and you will need to destroy a nearby orb)
Solve the puzzle by stepping on the plate while facing the disc to make a rune appear and step backward to spawn the Taken enemies.
Defeat the Taken enemies until you run into the Keeper of Power, who needs to be defeated before the Taken Osseous Fragment will appear and may be collected.
Step 3: Find the Taken Osseous Fragment the Hive has concealed somewhere in the Forgotten Shore
The same steps need to be taken with this Quest Step but you will need to head to the Forgotten Shore and enter the Veles Labyrinth.
Within the labyrinth, you will need to make your way through the tunnels until you find another orb that needs to be destroyed.
There will be a series of plates and glyphs that you need to solve, which require you to step on the plate and step in a certain direction. (There are 3 puzzles)
Stepping on the plates and facing the glyphs will require you to go forward for the first one, left for the second one, and backward for the last one.
Taken enemies will appear and you will need to fight your way through the Lost Sector until you find and defeat another Keeper of Power before you may collect the Taken Osseous Fragment.
Step 4: Pick up the data from Sloane
Head back to the Shaping Slab and open its menu to report your progress by selecting the “Accept” option and this Quest Step will be completed.
This will also unlock 3 short quests for you to complete and these will need to be completed in Quest Step 5 before you can proceed.
Step 5: Break Taken protective curses to find and obtain more Taken Osseous Fragments
More Taken Osseous Fragments need to be found but this time, you will need to first complete a set of quests to break the curses that prevent you from getting to them.
You will need to complete the following quests that are obtainable after Quest Step 4 from the Shaping Slab:
Step 6: Complete the Exotic mission “Derealize”
Multiple objectives are listed in this quest and to complete these, you will need to do the Derealize Exotic Mission.
During this mission, you will be able to find the Taken Osseous Fragment and obtain the Barrow-Dyand Exotic Submachine Gun.
Objectives include the following:
- Find Taken Osseous Fragment
- Acquire Weapon
- Complete “Derealize” Exotic Mission
Verdict
The Taken Path doesn’t have the best conclusion due to a battle that was seemingly impossible to win, which led to you trapping Xir-Kuur.
While the fight didn’t go exactly as planned and instead of defeating this powerful Taken entity, you managed to trap it.
Your efforts do not go unrewarded though as the outcome resulted in the acquisition of a new powerful Exotic Strand Submachine Gun, the Barrow-Dyad.
