After tracing a mysterious signal to Kepler, you meet a man named Lodi who eventually leads you to Caldera, where the existence of the Aionians is revealed.
Your efforts result in the reactivation of the Altar of Relativity, a complex device that requires Strangelet Capsules to operate.
While assisting the people of Caldera, you also work with Ikora to uncover the origin of the signal that brought you to Kepler, which appears to come from a familiar face.
How To Get The Edge of Fate Quest?
The Edge of Fate Quest (Main Seasonal Quest) becomes available after you have completed the introductory quest of the same name.
The introductory quest is available as soon as you start in this new season, while the Main Seasonal Quest can be claimed when you complete it.
The Edge of Fate Quest Steps (Objectives)
Step 1: Meet Rebecca, Dean of the Aionians
After obtaining this quest, Lodi suggests that you meet with Dean Rebecca, who can be found in the settlement that you recently reached, Caldera.
Follow your marker to where Rebecca is and interact with her to begin a conversation (which doesn’t go too well as she speaks a strange language) to proceed to the next quest step.
Step 2: Draw out the Barricade Mind to obtain the Acceleron it guards
It is revealed that an Acceleron is near the entrance to the Central Academy, which is in the hands of a Vex Mind that recently stole it.
Head to the marked location and interact with the device with the option “Activate Energy Pulse” and this will cause enemies to spawn.
You will need to defeat Vex Combatants nearby to obtain Vex Data and deposit a total of 15 of these motes into the device.
After 15 Motes have been deposited, the Barricaded Mind (Vex Hydra) will appear, and defeating it will allow you to open a chest that contains the Acceleron.
Step 3: Access the terminal to acquire the translation cipher “Rosetta”
Nearby, where you recently deposited Motes and defeated the Barricaded Mind, will be a terminal, and interacting with it will provide you with the “Rosetta” ability.
This will allow you to decipher Aionian characters, which allows you to understand basic words and concepts in Aionina. (Allows you to speak with Aionians and open certain chests.)
Step 4: Return to Dean Rebeca with the Rosetta technology and attempt another conversation
Now that you have a basic understanding of the Aionian language, make your way back to Dean Rebecca and speak to her again.
Step 5: Access the Aionian’s telemetry buoys to locate the disruptive signal
After speaking to Dean Rebecca, she mentions an unidentified signal that has been disrupting their systems before your arrival.
You will need to make your way to each telemetry buoy and interact with it to locate the source of the signal. (There will be a marker leading to each one of them.)
Step 6: Meet With Orin
The signal is revealed to be coming from a person named Orin, who Drifter believed to have been in captivity and working as an emissary of The Nine.
Orin is nearby and her location is marked by a waypoint, which now requires that you find and speak with her.
Step 7: Access The Altar of Relativity to begin tracking down the lost Strangelet capsules
After speaking to Orin, her signal no longer disrupts the Altar, and you may now access the Aionian network.
You will need to interact with the Altar of Relativity and begin tracking down the stolen Strangelet Capsules through the available quests from the altar.
Step 8: Track Strangelet Capsule in Central Academy and Exile’s Accord
There will be two Strangelet Quests available at this point, which are The Exiles Accord Strangelet (Quest) and The Central Academy Strangelet (Quest) that need to be completed.
Step 9: Recover Strangelet Capsules across Kepler and return them to the Altar of Relativity
This quest step requires that you obtain the Strangelet Capsules from the Central Academy Strangelet quest and the Exile’s Accord Strangelet quest.
Once both of these have been completed, head back to Caldera and interact with the Altar of Relativity to proceed with the next steps.
Step 10: Return to the Altar and perform the integration
Head to the Altar of Relativity to begin checks on it before making an attempt to perform the integration process in Caldera.
Step 11: Restore Power to the Altar of Relativity
The Altar of Relativity has malfunctioned, and you will need to head to each of the switches marked nearby and interact with them.
Once power has been restored by activating the switches, make your way back to the Altar of Relativity and interact with it to restart it.
Step 12: Return to the Altar and perform the integration
With power now restored to the Altar of Relativity, return to it and interact with the device marked by a waypoint and interact with it.
This begins a cutscene where you get a glimpse of Lodi’s past and learn how he came to be on Kepler before your arrival.
Step 13: Meet Drifter in Caldera
It appears that you are not the only one who has been invited to Kepler, and now the Drifter is inbound, which requires you to meet up with him in Caldera.
Step 14: Acquire the Strangelet Capsule located in Central Academy
Your task is to obtain the Central Academy Strangelet Capsule, and this is often done during Quest Step 8, where both Stranglet Capsule quests are available.
Step 15: Locate and acquire the Strangelet Capsule located in Exile’s Accord
Similar to the previous quest step, this will also have been completed in a previous quest called Exile’s Accord Strangelet.
Step 16: Integrate the Central Academy Strangelet Capsule at the Altar of Relativity
With things seeming to be more stable now, head back to the Altar of Relativity and interact with the marked device to integrate the Central Academy Strangelet Capsule.
Step 17: Integrate the Exile’s Accord Strangelet Capsule at the Altar of Relativity
After successfully integrating the Central Academy Strangelet Capsule at the altar, the same must now be done with the Strangelet Capsule that you obtained from Exile’s Accord.
Step 18: Access the Altar of Relativity to begin tracking the Strangelet Capsule in Outer Steppes
The Altar’s connection to the remaining Strangelet Capsules has been strengthened, and now you need to access the Altar of Relativity to begin tracking one from the Outer Steppes.
Interact with the Altar of Relativity and accept “The Outer Steppes Strangelet” quest to continue.
Step 19: Locate and acquire the Strangelet Capsule from Outer Steppes
Now that you have obtained the quest that will lead you to obtaining the Outer Steppes Strangelet Capsule, you will need to complete all the objectives from it.
You will need to complete the final objective (Quest Step 7), which is to complete the “Charge” mission in the Outer Steppes Strangelet quest to progress with this step.
Step 20: Integrate the Strangelet Capsule from Outer Steppes at the Altar of Relativity
After you have returned to Caldera with the Strangelet Capsule in hand, head to the Altar of Relativity and interact with the marked device to begin the integration process.
Step 21: Meet with Lodi and Ikora at the Altar of Relativity
Following the integration of the third Strangelet Capsule, you will need to meet up with Lodi and Ikora, which reveals a huge part of Ikora’s past and how her life was “altered” by The Nine.
Step 22: Access the Altar of Relativity to begin tracking the Strangelet Capsule in The Gorge
Head to the Altar or Relativity once more and you will be able to obtain “The Gorge Strangelet” quest, which will have you searching for the final Strangelet Capsule.
Step 23: Locate and acquire the Strangelet Capsule from The Gorge
While progressing with “The Gorge Strangelet” quest, you will need to reach Quest Step 3 and obtain the Strangelet Capsule from the “Quarantine” mission.
Step 24: Speak with Orin in the Assimilated Easement
Orin would like to speak with you before you progress further, and you can find her at the Assimilated Easement, which you should now be able to teleport to.
Step 25: Complete mission “Criticality” to shut down the overloading reactors and save the Aionian settlement from obliteration
Bad news arrives when the Aionians inform you about their reactor problems, which will sooner or later lead to a meltdown.
You will need to assess the situation and solve this problem by completing the “Criticality” mission that can be started in the Outer Steppes.
Step 26: Integrate the Strangelet Capsule from The Gorge into the Altar of Relativity
After successfully averting a meltdown, it is now time to integrate the Strangelet Capsule into the altar, and hopefully things go according to plan.
Make your way back to Caldera and interact with the marked device once to activate it and again to integrate the Strangelet Capsule into the Altar of Relativity.
Step 27: Meet with Lodi and Orin near the Altar
With the final Strangelet Capsule now in place, you are to meet with Lodi and Orin in Caldera for a meeting with The Nine.
They have decided to “weaponize” you, the Guardian, as they are now at war with the Vex and other threats, and you are to participate in this meeting/ritual.
Step 28: Complete mission “The Message”
It is time for you to confront Archon Levaszk, Prophet of the Giver, from continuing with his plans before time runs out.
You will need to head to the Altar of Relativity and reach the nearby Mission Starter to pursue and confront Archon Levaszk once and for all.
Step 29: Meet with Lodi and your fireteam to discuss what you’ve learned
At the end of “The Message” mission a cutscene began, and this showed the events that took place immediately after you defeated Archon Levaszk.
The Nine gave you a message, and III (Three from the Nine) showed you a path to changing what the outcome would be, which is their extinction.
Head to Lodi and the others to speak with them about what has happened and what is yet to come after fate has been changed.
Step 30: Meet with Lodi in the Caldera to discuss his intel
Lodi has learned a lot since you first met, and now he has been given a chance to make a difference despite knowing about his inevitable fate, which he would like to share with you.
Head over to where Lodi is located by following the waypoint and speak with him.
Step 31: Examine the Altar’s new
With a new path lying ahead of you, The Nine have sent you a message while a change has happened to the Altar of Relativity.
Head to the Altar of Relativity and interact with it to accept the Exotic Quest called “Graviton Through The Ages,” and the quest will be complete.
The Edge of Fate Quest Rewards
Throughout this quest, you will be able to unlock several abilities that will remain active while you are on Kepler.
These include:
- Matterspark I, II, and III
- Rosetta I and II
- Relocator I and II
- Mattermorph I
As you complete various encounters, objectives, and missions during this quest, you will be able to collect tons of loot from enemies and chests.
These will include Glimmer, Materials, and Legendary Equipment that have been introduced in The Edge of Fate update.
Additionally, the completion of this quest will fully unlock Kepler and the additional content in it, which includes the following:
- Graviton Through The Ages (Exotic Quest) – a quest to obtain Graviton Spike (Exotic Hand Cannon)
- New World Tiers – These allow you to change the difficulty on the map, allowing you to obtain better rewards
- Explore Secrets – Uncover mysteries and collect materials to focus and attune gear at the Altar of Relativity
- The Sieve – A new activity introduced in The Edge of Fate that provides several rewards for each round you complete
Verdict
It is revealed that The Nine had tampered with many of the lives of your team, including your own, to get you to where you are now.
Ikora and Lodi play a huge part in what is to come, and you will have a role in the attempt to change fate to stop Maya Sundaresh from causing the extinction of The Nine.
The past and future have been revealed, and depending on what you and your allies do next, the outcome will either bring balance or end up with destruction.
