Destiny 2 The Sieve (How to Start, Mechanics & Rewards)

The Sieve is an activity that was added when The Edge of Fate update became live, and has the Guardians assisting Drifter as he prepares his Haul.

During the activity, you will need to protect Drifter’s operation and collect dark matter from Kepler’s mysterious anomalies to help him prepare.

You will need to complete certain objectives and defeat bosses until the last encounter, with each round providing you with rewards.

How To Start The Sieve?

The Sieve becomes available on Kepler, and you can check if the activity can be done by viewing the map. You may find the icon near Caldera.

Checking The Sieve’s icon will show how long it will be available or how long you need to wait before the activity is live again.

Once the activity ends, you will need to wait again before you can do the activity, which makes it a good idea to gear up or do other activities on the side.

The Sieve Mechanics

Once you start the activity, you will begin in Caldera, and the first round can be started by interacting with the marked console, which will allow you to contact Drifter.

Once the drifter has been contacted, the first mining drill will need to be set up, which requires you to head to the marked area and interact with it.

While the drill is active, you will need to complete objectives such as defeating certain enemies with various methods in order to allow the drill to continue working.

After the drilling is complete, you may head back to collect your rewards before contacting Drifter once more.

Aside from protecting the drills that you set up, other rounds will have bosses appear, which you will need to defeat.

Each boss may have different challenges, such as being evasive and moving around the area, or another requiring that you deactivate their defenses.

The activity will have alternating objectives between keeping drills online as well as defeating bosses until all the rounds are up.

You will be notified when you have reached the last encounter, but just before that, the Dark Matter Bonanza will happen.

The Dark Matter Bonanza is considered a special round that will have you defeating enemies, who will drop Dark Matter.

If enough Dark Matter is collected and deposited, an additional reward will be available at the end of the round. (Activity ends after the last encounter following this round)

The Sieve Rewards

Completing each round in The Sieve will provide you with a chest that will automatically open, which will drop loot.

Loot from these chests includes Kepler Gera and Fated Ciphers, allowing you to get plenty of these with each round that you complete.

If you have Attunement for a certain item (Altar of Relativity), you will most likely obtain more of the specific type of item from the chests.

Verdict

The Sieve can be both fun and challenging, and the number of rewards you get is plentiful, making it great for farming Kepler Gear.

Aside from the gear that you can obtain, you will end up getting a lot of Fated Ciphers, which can be used later at the Altar of Relativity.

The faster you can clear out The Sieve, the more gear and Fated Ciphers you will be able to get your hands on, and this is useful when farming weapons for certain rolls.
