How To Get The Outer Steppes Strangelet Quest?
The Outer Steppes Strangelet becomes available once you reach Quest Step 18 in The Edge of Fate quest, which is required to progress with it.
You may accept The Outer Steppes Strangelet quest from the Altar of Relativity in Caldera, which can be done after previously integrating the Exile’s Accord and the Central Academy Strangelets.
The Outer Steppes Strangelet Quest Steps (Objectives)
Step 1: Meet up with Lodi’s Aionian contact in the Stacks
While the relationship between Dark Matter and Kepler is yet to be investigated, you will need to meet up with one of Lodi’s contacts.
This will have you making your way to the Stacks, where you may follow the waypoint to reach Lodi’s contact and speak with them.
Step 2: Find the culprits who ransacked Dr. Carnahan’s office
Upon reaching your destination, Dr. Carnahan was nowhere to be found, and her lab appears to have been ransacked while traces of Stasis as well as Strand still linger.
You will need to follow these traces and take out both the Stasis Exiles and Strand Exiles nearby, and see if you can find the scientist.
Step 3: Track down the last Exiles who ransacked the lab and claim the leader’s Acceleron
After defeating the Stasis and Strand Exiles, you have been pointed in the direction of the leader of the group and will now need to chase them down.
Hunt down the leader and take them out, which should also provide you with the Acceleron that they happen to be carrying.
This boss becomes immune to damage after his health is reduced, which requires you to use Matterspark to overload batters, destroy devices, and activate a trigger to make him vulnerable.
This leads you to a fight with a boss called the Exiled Hermit, who must be defeated for a chest to appear, which contains loot along with the Acceleron.
Step 4: Talk to Dr. Carnahan about the murder of her assistant
It appears that Dr. Carnahan had survived the attack, but her assistant was not so lucky and didn’t make it out alive. (Speak to Dr. Carnahan to continue)
Step 5: Find the murderer, exact justice, and retrieve the stolen technology
Dr. Carnahan manages to figure out where the murderer is heading, and it turns out they have stolen what is to be considered dangerous technology.
You will need to start the “Morphology” mission nearby to track down the murderer and take back the technology they have stolen.
Step 6: Return to Dr. Carnahan with the Mattermorph
After previously recovering the stolen technology, make your way back to Dr. Carnahan to return the technology.
Step 7: Retrieve the Outer Steppes Strangelet Capsule in mission “Charge”
The location of a Strangelet Capsule has been revealed, and you will need to make your way to the source of the Altar of Relativity’s power and find out how to obtain it.
This can be done in the “Charge” mission, which will be available now that you have reached this quest step and will be accessible at a Mission Starter nearby.
The Outer Steppes Strangelet Quest Rewards
Defeating the Exiled Hermit will cause a chest to appear, which will reward you with a Fated Cipher, the Acceleron (Reflux), as well as equipment.
During the “Morphology” mission, you will be able to unlock the Mattermorph ability, which allows you to alter the environment around you to provide you with ways to progress through areas.
