How To Get Dragon’s Breath & It’s Catalyst in Destiny 2

Season of the Wish Dragon's Breath (Rocket Launcher) D2Burn the world. Burn it all.

Dragon’s Breath is an Exotic Rocket Launcher that was released during the Season of the Wish, which sports a lot of damage, especially against single targets.

It works differently from other Rocket Launchers though as it fires a single projectile that hits one enemy to deal a large amount of damage before releasing explosions.

Firing this weapon works well when you want to deal damage and stay on the move or switch to other weapons during a fight.

How To Get Dragon’s Breath?

Dragon’s Breath is obtained during the Season of the Wish, which is done by claiming it as a reward from the Season Rank menu.

It can be obtained at Season Rank 1 if you have purchased the Season Pass but those who have not purchased it can still claim it once they reach Season Rank 35.

Dragon’s Breath Perks

1) Volatile Launch (Launcher Barrel)

Dragon’s Breath has been optimized for an especially explosive payload.

  • Greatly increases blast radius
  • Slightly decreases handling speed
  • Slightly decreases projectile speed

2) Black Powder (Magazine)

The explosives from Dragon’s Breath are more effective.

  • Slightly increases blast radius
  • Decreases stability

3) High Octane (Trait)

Fuel is partially replenished when you ignite nearby targets and Dragon’s Breath also refills its ammo from reserves when fuel reaches its maximum level.

4) Short-Action Stock (Stock)

Dragon’s Breath is especially easy to grip.

  • Greatly increases handling speed

Dragon’s Breath Intrinsic Traits

Composite Propellant

Rockets become embedded in a target or surface that they hit, which results in explosions that inflict Scorch on nearby enemies.

Dragon’s Breath will provide its next shot with more fuel the longer the weapon goes without being fired, making it even more effective.

Damage from the initial projectile deals a large amount of damage before it deals even more damage where the rocket is embedded.

Dragon’s Breath Catalyst

Once equipped with its catalyst, Dragon’s Breath will replenish its fuel faster, and when enemies are defeated, they will periodically drop Firesprites.

Firesprites are the new version of the Elemental Wells, which can provide different benefits when using the Solar subclass.

Verdict

Contrary to the lore, Dragon’s Breath does resemble a shark more than a dragon but the design is more familiar than what was put on different aircraft such as the A-10 Thunderbolt.

Firing the Dragon’s Breath may be a bit tricky since you need to hit a target to deal high damage to it but if you plan things right, even shooting at the surface can set them up for the explosions.

Dragon’s Breath seems to be more beneficial for those using the Solar subclass but still works fine with other ones based on your build.
