Destiny 2 Fated Cipher (How to Get, Location & Uses)

With the release of The Edge of Fate update, new equipment can now be obtained, and when it comes to Focused Decoding, Fated Ciphers will be needed.

Obtaining rewards from the Altar of Relativity in the Focused Decoding section requires not only Fated Cipher but also other materials as well, but this allows you to acquire useful gear.

When it comes to obtaining Fated Ciphers, there are multiple ways to go, and some methods may be better than others depending on what activities you prefer to do.

Fated Cipher Location

Obtaining Fated Ciphers is not tied to one location but rather the activities that you do, such as if you opt for encounters in various regions or complete missions.

There are certain activities that you may access from the Portal as well, which will give you the chance to get Fated Ciphers as rewards depending on what activities you partake in.

How To Get Fated Cipher?

1) The Sieve

The Sieve is an activity that keeps you defending against enemies and completing objectives for multiple rounds until its completion.

This is only accessible at certain times, and you can check the Kepler Destination to see whether the activity is available or how long you need to wait for it to begin.

Completing, The Sieve will provide you with several rewards, which include multiple Fated Ciphers and other loot.

2) Time Latch Missions

Time Latch Missions is an activity that allows you to play a random mission from the campaign that will provide you with rewards upon its completion.

You may select different difficulties or stick with the “Brave” difficulty, which will provide you with a Fated Cipher at the end of the mission along with other rewards.

Since these missions are quick to complete, you can run several of them to get a few Fated Ciphers in a short amount of time.

3) Kepler Activities

Other activities that may be done on Kepler will provide you with Fated Cipher, such as encounters or defeating certain enemies that you find.

While exploring the different regions on Kepler, you may stumble upon secrets, chests, and more that may also provide you with Fated Cipher and other rewards.

Fated Cipher Uses

Fated Cipher is required as a currency for Focused Decoding, which allows you to obtain a certain type of gear at the cost of this material.

Focused Decoding can be done at the Altar of Relativity in The Edge Of Fate (Season Reclamation) at the cost of both Fated Cipher and a region material.

Depending on the daily region, the additional materials that are required will depend on which region is featured and may be one of the following:

The number of materials required will depend on which Kepler Engrams you intend to focus on, which will provide you with certain rewards.

Verdict

When it comes to farming Fated Cipher, some of the best ways are The Sieve if you want multiple rewards along with them, or Time Latch Missions for quick runs.

Fated Ciphers are a necessary material to farm if you plan on obtaining specific gear from the Altar of Relativity, especially if you are using Armorer Mods for certain stats.

Continuously grinding activities on Kepler will eventually provide you with Fated Cipher, but if you need a large amount, focusing on those you can complete quickly is the way to go.
