Exploring Palworld is often a breeze depending on where you go except when it is nighttime as the darkness can be a hindrance and this includes inside of caves too.
This makes it necessary to have a reliable source of light to help guide you through the dark, which is the Hip Lantern.
The Hip Lantern is one of the earlier Key Items that you can unlock and craft, which can be extremely useful when you find yourself exploring dark areas.
How To Unlock and Craft Hip Lantern?
The Hip Lantern can be unlocked after you have reached Level 15 and have defeated Zoe and Grizzbolt at the Tower of the Rayne Syndicate.
Once you have completed both requirements, you may unlock the Hip Lantern from your Technology Menu under Ancient Technology. (Costs 2 Ancient Technology Points)
Crafting the Hip Lantern can be done at any crafting station starting from the Primitive Workbench up to the Production Assembly Lines.
You will need the following materials to craft the Hip Lantern:
- 20 Ingot
- 10 Wood
- 10 Flame Organ
- 10 Ancient Civilization Parts
Hip Lantern Uses
The Hip Lantern is kept in your Key Items section of your Inventory and will emit light in a radius around your character at night.
This helps you see better in the dark instead of roaming around with minimal vision that can turn an adventure into an accident.
Being able to see in dark areas can help you avoid falling, getting ambushed by hostiles and even losing your way in caves that you are exploring.
How To Turn Off Hip Lantern?
Some players may find that they don’t need the Hip Lantern that much and might want to turn it off, but this does not appear to be an available feature right now.
Back then you could not remove certain Key Items, but it looks like you can now remove the Hip Lantern from your inventory, and this will remove the light that it emits.
If you decide that you will need the Hip Lantern later, you can always store it on a chest to take later if you plan on exploring dark places.
Verdict
The Hip Lantern can be useful as some areas in the game are too hard to progress through unless it is morning, which makes it good to have the item on you.
Having the Hip Lantern in your Key Items section of your inventory will also show the item around your waist, which is where the light source emits from.
While the Hip Lantern does provide you with light in dark areas, the area is limited and this still means that you should watch where you are traveling.
