Players have always wanted new weapons to use when exploring the Palpagos Islands and after the Feybreak Update, more were finally added.
One of the weapons that you can now get your hands on is the Katana and this weapon can be obtained early in the game.
While not the fastest of weapons, this deadly blade provides you with the ability to dash forward to unleash a wide slash to hit your enemies.
How To Get Katana?
The Katana can be unlocked once you have reached Level 29 and may be crafted at a Weapon Workbench or better structures.
These include the Workbench, High Quality Workbench, Weapon Assembly Lines, Product Assembly Lines, and more.
Eventually, you will progress to higher levels, and unlocking the Katana can be done earlier than the sword, making it an alternative to the Bat and Spear.
Katana Crafting Requirements
Once you have reached Level 29 and have unlocked the Katana in your Technology Menu, you may craft the weapon with the following resources:
- 30 Ingot
- 20 Wood
- 20 Stone
Katana Attack Style
The Katana allows you to do a forward dash that is followed by a large sweep with the blade, damaging any enemies that are in the area.
Pressing the attack button will start the attack, which has your character charge up for half a second before dashing forward to unleash a strike.
The attack will hit enemies in front of your character after they dash, which covers around 2 foundations in a distance.
This attack may be considered slow by some players, but this can be used to your advantage in other ways such as closing a gap or quickly moving if you are overburdened.
Katana Vs Sword
When it comes to damage, the single strike of a Katana does the same damage as the Sword, which makes it more logical to get the Sword instead.
The Katana however provides you with a way to quickly close the distance between you and your enemies but running up to them with a Sword can simply be done instead.
You will be better off using the Sword once you have unlocked this and may stick with a Bat or Spear if you want to get multiple hits instead of a single attack.
Verdict
While the Katana can be a good way to deal a slightly larger amount of damage with a single slice during the earlier parts of the game, it cannot let out a combo of attacks.
Players who prefer to repeatedly attack enemies may want to choose the Bat or Refined Spear until they unlock the Sword.
Some find the Katana useful for other means than fighting as its dash can be utilized to close in on enemies or to quickly move from one location to another.
