Capturing Pals is one of the main activities in Palworld and to successfully collect as many of them as possible, you will want to increase your Capture Rate.
Your Capture Rate is the chance you have to successfully capture a Pal after hitting them with a Sphere (thrown or launched) which is affected by different factors.
As you progress to tougher areas, the difficulty when it comes to capturing Pals increases and this makes it necessary to increase your Capture Rate.
How To Increase Chance of Capturing Pals?
1) Reduce Pal Health
One of the very first things that you learn in the game is that damaging a Pal will reduce its health to certain portions that affect your Capture Rate.
This makes it necessary to reduce their health as much as possible since the lower the health of a Pal, the higher the chance they will be captured.
There are certain ways to attack Pals to a certain extent where you do not defeat them though, such as a Pal with the Mercy Hit or equipping your character with the Ring of Mercy.
2) Use Better Spheres
As you progress through the game, you will eventually come across different Spheres that are considered an upgrade from the ordinary Pal Sphere.
Depending on which type of Sphere you are using, the chance to capture Pals will increase and this becomes important for rarer Pals who are at higher levels.
These Spheres can be unlocked as your character level increases and will often cost more resources but are worth it.
3) Upgrading Capture Strength at Statue of Power
Statues of Power allow you to upgrade Player Stats, which currently is just the Capture Strength of your character.
Interacting with the Statue of Power by choosing Enhance Player Stats, will allow you to increase your Capture Strength at the cost of Lifmunk Effigies.
Lifmunk Effigies can be found all around the Palpagos Islands and this makes it easier for you to quickly boost your Capture Strength early.
4) Land Critical Sphere Hits
Critical Sphere Hits were emphasized with the Feybreak Update and feature a system where throwing a Sphere at a weak spot gives you a better chance at capturing a pal.
This is because once Sphere Hits a weak spot, you will gain a Critical Bonus during the capture and this adds a certain percentage to the Capture Rate.
Locating weak spots can be done while you are damaging a Pal, which are often headshots or targeting certain body parts and this is where you will want to throw your Spheres.
5) Applying Conditions
When Pals are affected by certain conditions, they become easier to capture and these may be applied using weapons or your Pals.
Weapons such as the Fire Crossbow or Poison Crossbow can inflict conditions while Pals have skills that do elemental damage such as Ice attacks that can freeze their targets.
Keep in mind that you should watch out when applying conditions that deal damage over time as these may end up killing the Pals. (Even with Mercy Hit Passive Skill or Ring of Mercy)
Some of the more common conditions that can be applied to make capturing Pals easier would be to Burn, Shock, Freeze or Poison them.
6) Equip Sphere Modules
Sphere Modules are a feature that was added in the Feybreak Update, which allows you to equip certain modules to alter your Spheres.
These add slight effects that can be helpful or slightly cause a disadvantage while also providing additional Capture Strength.
As you progress to higher levels, you will be able to unlock and craft more Sphere Modules to improve your Capture Strength, which affects your Capture Rate.
7) Landing Back Bonus Sphere Hits
When targeting lower-level Pals, sometimes making use of the Back Bonus feature can help you quickly capture Pals.
This acts as a sort of Stealth Capture, which involves you throwing a Sphere at a Pal if you are behind it and targeting its back.
While this may not be the most effective for Pals that you are fighting head-on, it is still a good way to boost your Capture Rate.
