Diablo 4’s Lunar Awakening Event celebrates the Year of the Snake in its way, which provides players with the chance to grab a lot of loot.
During the event, you will be able to earn Ancestral Favor and later claim rewards depending on how much you have progressed.
The Lunar Awakening provides you not only with amazing rewards that you can grind for, but you also get a large boost in experience along the way.
Notable Rewards In Lunar Awakening Event
To quickly give you a breakdown of what you may expect from the Lunar Awakening Event, here is a quick breakdown:
- Lunar Shrines – These replace the traditional Shrines with ones designed to honor the Year of the Snake, which feature Augmented Buffs and provide 100% Bonus XP. (2 Minutes)
- Ancestral Favor – New reputation that can be obtained by defeating monsters while affected by the Lunar Shrine’s XP Buff.
- Unceasing Gifts from the Ancestors – Additional loot that you may claim as you continue to grind after reaching Rank 10 with Ancestral Favor.
- Lunar Awakening Cosmetics – Armor Cosmetics and a Prestige Armor Mount that may be purchased for Platinum added to Tejal’s Shop.
- Trag’Oul’s Consort – Obtainable mount from Ancestral Favor (Rank 10) that is exclusive to the Lunar Awakening Event.
Lunar Awakening Mechanics
Start Time and End Time
The Lunar Awakening Start Time was on February 4 (10:00 AM) and will run up to February 18 (10:00 AM) in Pacific Standard Time.
During the event, the Shrines found all around Sanctuary will be different as they have been transformed into Lunar Altars.
Lunar Altars will provide you with Augmented Buffs (Which have additional effects based on their original ones) and a stackable XP bonus. (XP bonus and buff have separate timers)
Ancestral Favor Ranks
While the Lunar Awakening Event is active, you will be able to gain a reputation with the Lunar Night Market which is run by an NPC named Ying-Yue.
Speaking to Ying-Yue for the first time will allow you to start the introductory quest for the event called Lunar Awakening, which runs the basics of the event.
You will be able to return to Ying-Yue at any time to view your Ancestral Favor Rank, which will also allow you to claim the rewards starting from Rank 1 up to Rank 10.
Gaining Reputation (Ancestral Favor)
The mechanics are simple when it comes to collecting Ancestral Favor and this is done by killing enemies after you have activated a Lunar Shrine.
Lunar Shrines will have replaced the regular Shrines in the game during the event and upon interacting with them, your kills will contribute towards your Ancestral Favor.
The goal is implied to activate a Lunar Shrine and kill as many enemies as you can, including the Miserly Spirits that appear when you first interact with any Shrine.
Each Lunar Shrine that you activate will give you 2 Minutes of bonus XP and the ability to gain Ancestral Favor by killing enemies. (Multiple XP Bonuses have separate timers)
Collecting Rewards
Each time your Ancestral Favor Rank increases, you will get an update from the Event Quest that tells you to visit Ying-Yue to obtain your rewards.
Speaking to her will allow you to claim the rewards for each rank that you have reached, which includes caches that provide Crafting Materials, Equipment, and more.
Once you have reached Rank 10 and continue to grind, you will gain access to Unceasing Gifts of the Ancestors, which provide you with continuous rewards to collect until the event is over.
Lunar Awakening Rewards
The Lunar Awakening Rewards come in the form of claimable items that you can get from Ying-Yue and more than one can sometimes be claimed per rank with Ancestral Favor.
The rewards don’t just stop at Rank 10 though as you can continue to grind and may collect Unceasing Gifts of the Ancestors multiple times.
Aside from the loot that you can get from the caches that you open, you will be able to grind a lot of XP during the event thanks to the Lunar Shrines.
Lunar Awakening Cosmetics
The Lunar Awakening Cosmetics feature a set of Cosmetic Armor for the Necromancer, Sorcerer, Barbarian, Rogue, Druid, and Mounts.
These come at the price of 2,000 Platinum for Armor Cosmetics while the Prestige Mount Armor can be purchased for 1,800 Platinum.
Verdict
The Lunar Awakening Event will last until February 18 and reaching Rank 10 with your Ancestral Favor can be easily done within a single day.
The rest of the time for the event will have your farming bonus rewards called Unceasing Gifts from the Ancestors and there is a lot for you to get your hands on.
Make sure to grab as much as you can during the event because the next time you will be able to do this will most likely be in 2026.
