The Lunar Awakening Event has turned all the Shrines in Diablo 4 into Lunar Shrines, which can be considered as an enhanced version of them tied with the event.
These Lunar Shrines provide you with not only Augmented Buffs but also give you increased XP for a certain period.
During the Lunar Awakening Event, you will want to find Lunar Shrines and hunt down as many enemies as possible to gain Ancestral Favor and a ton of XP.
How To Find Lunar Shrines?
Lunar Shrines will appear on your map just like the regular ones would and these are noticeable by the purple symbol on the Shrine icons.
During the Lunar Awakening Event, all the Shrines have been turned into Lunar Shrines, and this will last until the event ends.
You will be able to find Lunar Shrines as you roam around in different areas and if you keep an eye on your map, you are bound to spot them when they are close.
The appearance of Lunar Shrines is different from normal ones as they have been designed to honor the Year of the Snake.
How To Activate Lunar Shrines?
Activating a Lunar Shrine is the same as activating a normal one and all you need to do is interact with it to obtain its buffs.
Lunar Shrines provide you with Augmented Buffs, which provide enhanced effects based on which type of shrine you interact with.
Aside from the Augmented Buffs provided by the Lunar Shrines, you will also be affected by an XP Boost that lasts for 2 Minutes. (Multiple XP Boosts can be active at a time)

Miserly Spirits
One of the best things about activating a Lunar Shrine is that it summons Miserly Spirits, which of course will attack you, but this is great for farming XP.
Miserly Spirits will spawn at your location, and this allows you to make the most of the XP Boost and use whatever buffs you have.
Each Lunar Shrine that you activate will summon these enemies and this guarantees you get XP whenever you activate them.
Farming Ancestral Favor
Farming Ancestral Favor is the main activity you want to be doing during the Lunar Awakening Event since you have an XP Boost and powerful Augmented Buffs from Lunar Shrines.
The goal is to activate Lunar Shrines whenever you find them and explore the areas around you quickly as you kill enemy after enemy to gain a lot of Ancestral Favor.
Good places to do this would be in the Headhunt Activity Zones since there will be several enemies that you can kill after activating a Lunar Shrine.
Another option would be to activate Lunar Shrines in the Helltide Zones, which is another place for you to kill several enemies but during Season 7, a lot of monsters spawn in Headhunt Zones.
Verdict
Lunar Shrines will be available in almost any place that you go to, especially when they are open areas and sometimes you can even find more than one.
Farming Ancestral Favor can only be done if you activate a Lunar Shrine, which makes it necessary to get ready to kill as many enemies as you can before the 2 Minutes are up.
Headhunt Activity Zones are one of the best places to activate Lunar Shrines since you will be able to kill countless enemies within minutes. (Thanks to the population and activities in the areas)
