Season of Hell’s Legacy brings several memorable locations from earlier Diablo games back as Waking Nightmares, with Durance of Hate recreating the journey toward Mephisto from Diablo II.
Before you can reach the Prime Evil, you will need to explore Travincal and rebuild Khalim’s Will by recovering its four missing components.
Completing the journey eventually takes you deep into the Durance of Hate, where the Echo of Mephisto awaits as the final encounter.
Durance of Hate Location
The Diablo II – Durance of Hate (Nightmare) Waking Nightmare is found in the Fethis Wetlands of Hawezar and becomes accessible once you reach Torment VI.
This is the Tier 45 Capstone for Season Rank VI, which must be completed before you can claim its Capstone rewards and advance to Season Rank VII.
Entering the Waking Nightmare takes you directly to Travincal, where your first objective is to rebuild Khalim’s Will.
How To Complete Durance of Hate Waking Nightmare?
After entering the Waking Nightmare, you will arrive in Travincal, where you must collect four components needed to rebuild Khalim’s Will.
The first component you will need is Khalim’s Flail, which can be obtained by exploring Travincal and defeating Ismail Vilehand once you locate him.
Continue exploring until Ismail appears on your map, then defeat him and collect Khalim’s Flail before searching for the remaining components.
Three smaller dungeons can also be found throughout Travincal, with each containing a Zakarum Chest that holds one of the remaining parts.
You can complete these dungeons in any order, so simply enter each one, locate its Zakarum Chest, collect the component, and return to Travincal afterward.
The three components and their locations are:
- Khalim’s Heart – Kurast Sewers
- Khalim’s Brain – Flayer Dungeon
- Khalim’s Eye – Spider Cavern
Return to the Compelling Orb in Travincal and interact with it to destroy the barrier blocking the entrance to the Durance of Hate.
Once inside, explore your way from Level 1 to Level 3, fighting through the enemies you encounter while searching for the passage leading deeper underground.
Upon reaching Durance of Hate Level 3, continue through the area until you find the Echo of Mephisto and begin the final battle.
Keep moving throughout the fight to avoid Mephisto’s lightning and other powerful attacks, which can deal considerable damage if they catch you off guard.
Continue attacking whenever you have an opening until the Echo of Mephisto is defeated, completing the Durance of Hate Waking Nightmare.
How To Defeat Echo of Mephisto?
The Echo of Mephisto serves as the final boss of Durance of Hate, so engage him once you reach the final area and continue attacking whenever an opening appears.
Mephisto can unleash several powerful attacks throughout the encounter, including bursts of lightning that can deal heavy damage if they catch you off guard.
Most of his attacks can be avoided by staying mobile and repositioning when necessary, rather than remaining directly in front of him throughout the fight.
Continue avoiding his heavier attacks while dealing damage whenever possible, and defeating the Echo of Mephisto will complete the Durance of Hate Waking Nightmare.
Durance of Hate Rewards
Completing Durance of Hate (Nightmare) fulfills the Capstone requirement for Season Rank VI, allowing you to claim its rewards and unlock Season Rank VII.
The Rank VI Capstone rewards include the Dark Wanderbear Pet, Mystery Greater Archetype Cache, Ancient Memory, 800 Forgotten Souls, and two Smoldering Ashes.
As one of the largest Waking Nightmares associated with Mephisto, Durance of Hate can also provide another Splinter of Hatred, allowing you to switch to Mephisto’s Prime Evil Power.
Tips For Durance of Hate
You do not need to collect the three dungeon components in a particular order, so tackle the Kurast Sewers, Flayer Dungeon, and Spider Cavern as you encounter them.
Watch your map while exploring Travincal, as Ismail Vilehand becomes easier to locate once you get close enough for his position to appear.
Once you enter the Durance of Hate itself, focus on finding the entrances to the next floor rather than clearing every enemy unless you want the additional loot.
Verdict
Durance of Hate is one of the more involved Waking Nightmares in Season 15, with rebuilding Khalim’s Will making the journey toward Mephisto more than a simple dungeon run.
Exploring Travincal and its three smaller dungeons makes up most of the journey before the final descent through the Durance of Hate begins.
Defeating the Echo of Mephisto completes the Season Rank VI Capstone, allowing you to claim its rewards and continue your progression into Season Rank VII.
