Thermia Fractures is one of the recurring events in Warframe, challenging players to seal unstable fissures across the volatile Orb Vallis landscape.
During the event, fractured thermia erupts from the surface, threatening Fortuna while the Exploiter Orb harvests resources for profit, creating combat and resource-gathering opportunities for players.
Sealing these fractures rewards Diluted Thermia, event points, and unique rewards, while giving players a reason to explore every corner of Orb Vallis under high-pressure conditions.
What Are Thermia Fractures?
Thermia Fractures occur when too much Orokin coolant is pumped underground, causing thermal flare-ups that force molten Thermia to erupt across the Vallis surface.
Nef Anyo and the Exploiter Orb are responsible for most fractures, harvesting the thermia for profit while leaving dangerous fissures for unsuspecting Tenno to deal with.
These fractures create dynamic combat zones that require players to act quickly, as ignoring them can escalate threats and hinder the collection of Diluted Thermia for event rewards.
How To Join the Event?
Thermia Fractures appear periodically in the Orb Vallis once every few weeks and are automatically visible on the Star Chart or World State Window when active.
Players simply need to travel to Orb Vallis during the event window and locate fractures marked by erupting orange thermia, which can be identified from a distance across the landscape.
Joining is seamless and open to any number of players in the area, allowing squads or solo Tenno to contribute toward sealing fractures and accumulating event points for rewards.
Thermia Fractures Mechanics
To begin sealing Thermia Fractures, players must first obtain a Coolant Canister, which is required to stabilize the erupting Thermia fissures scattered across Orb Vallis.
Coolant Canisters are dropped by Coolant Raknoids, which often appear near active fractures or accompany the Exploiter Orb as it patrols around the Temple of Profit.
Once a canister is acquired, players need to locate a Thermia Fracture, which can be easily identified by the bright orange thermia erupting from cracks in the Vallis surface.
Interacting with the fracture while carrying a Coolant Canister begins the sealing process, triggering a defense objective where players must protect the canister from incoming Corpus forces.
The sealing process takes roughly three minutes to complete and is represented by a progress counter that fills to one hundred instead of showing a standard timer.
During the defense, the fracture may occasionally release bursts known as burps, which can increase enemy levels, spawn additional units, or create temporary hazards around the fracture.
Players can insert up to three additional Coolant Canisters within the first thirty seconds, increasing the sealing duration but also boosting rewards and producing more Diluted Thermia.
Once the process finishes, the canister fills with diluted Thermia, and filling a canister awards Diluted Thermia, which is required to summon the Exploiter Orb.
Thermia Fractures Rewards
Sealing Thermia Fractures rewards Diluted Thermia, which is collected by filling Coolant Canisters during the sealing process and can later be used to summon the Exploiter Orb boss encounter.
Players also earn event points for contributing canisters and completing fractures, and these points accumulate across multiple Thermia Fracture events until all milestone rewards are unlocked.
Overall completion rewards include:
- 5 Points: Operation Buried Debts Emble
- 25 Points: Amalgam Shotgun Barrage and Amalgam Serration
- 50 Points: Amalgam Barrel Diffusion and Amalgam Organ Shatter
- 75 Points: Operation Buried Debts Sigil
- 100 Points: Opticor Vandal (includes weapon slot and Orokin Catalyst)
Verdict
Thermia Fractures are a recurring event that rewards players for sealing dangerous fissures across Orb Vallis while collecting Diluted Thermia and valuable milestone rewards.
The event is simple to join and easy to farm once players understand the mechanics, especially when using multiple Coolant Canisters to speed up the sealing process.
With useful rewards like Amalgam Mods and the Opticor Vandal, Thermia Fractures remain a worthwhile activity whenever the event returns.
