Survival missions are endless missions where players fight continuous enemy waves while keeping their Life Support from running out.
These missions place the Tenno deep inside enemy territory as the Lotus provides emergency Life Support to counter the faction’s efforts to suffocate the operative.
The objective is to stay alive by maintaining kill flow for Life Support drops and activating Capsules when needed to extend the mission for greater rewards.
Survival Mechanics
Mission Start
A Survival mission begins when players hack the start console, which activates the timer and Life Support drain, or it will start automatically after a short delay.
The initial Life Support buffer gives players time to engage enemies, position themselves strategically, and begin generating Life Support drops before the spawns intensify.
Teams spread out just enough to trigger enemy spawns that provide Life Support and stabilize the early phase of the mission.
Objectives
The main goal of Survival missions is to survive against endless enemies that converge on your location while keeping Life Support from reaching zero.
Life Support begins draining as soon as the mission starts and must be maintained through enemy kills and periodic Life Support Capsules to prevent mission failure.
Time is divided into five-minute rotations, and completing each rotation provides rewards, making it a good opportunity to farm resources, mods, and other items from the constant enemy spawns.
Survival is an endurance challenge where staying alive, managing Life Support, and defeating enemies efficiently determine how much you can earn.
Life Support
During survival missions, Life Support drains steadily, requiring constant kills for a chance to get small drops that replenish it to prevent it from being depleted and ending the mission early.
If Life Support runs out before you have completed one rotation (5 minutes), the mission will instantly fail with no option to continue.
If Life Support runs out after at least one rotation has been completed, your health will rapidly drain until you are left with a single point, making you extremely vulnerable to any enemy attack.
Once Life Support reaches zero, your only safe option is to extract from the mission, because attempting to continue will quickly lead to unavoidable deaths and mission failure.
Defeated enemies have a chance to drop small Life Support refills, while activated Life Support Capsules that appear periodically provide a large boost to help stabilize the mission.
Security Bypass
Security Bypasses were introduced in the Shadowgrapher update as new pickups that spawn near each Life Support Capsule during Survival missions.
Delivering a Security Bypass to its marked console briefly accelerates the mission timer, allowing squads to save time without waiting for natural progression.
These can be found when you are about 15 meters from them, and once you pick them up, it will show you the way to the console that it needs to be inserted into to activate the bypass.

Verdict
Survival missions are a great way to farm certain resources, which are often identified by the planet or system location where the mission takes place.
These missions become progressively more difficult over time, presenting greater challenges for players who continue fighting through multiple rotations.
Survival provides a consistent and repeatable gameplay loop that rewards endurance, efficient Life Support management, and steady enemy clearing for valuable rewards.
