Whalaska Boss (Location, Fight, Drops & Bounty Token)

With the Tide of Terraria introducing several new Pals, a few Alpha Pals also emerged, and one of them is Whalaska, Nice Ice Lance.

This Field Boss can be a bit tricky to spot as it will often be submerged in the water and is a great distance from one of the main islands.

As a Pal that features both the Ice and Water elements, Whalaska can be quite the challenge for those who seek it out in the middle of the ocean.

Whalaska, Nice Ice Lance can be found partially submerged and swimming around a small iceberg located to the north of the Land of Absolute Zero.

Head north from the ice biome and make your way to around (181, 845), and search around the iceberg, and you will be able to spot it in the water.

Fighting Whalaska, Nice Ice Lance

Whalaska, Nice Ice Lance will mainly stay partially submerged in the water but will pop out every now and then to attack or to let out a cry.

Using a Flying Pal or a Water Pal to quickly get around is necessary, especially for the trip to the iceberg where this Field Boss is found.

You will need to dodge its attacks, but this won’t be difficult even with a Pal that does not have any bonuses to its movement speed.

If you are using Flying Pals, make sure to watch their stamina, and the same goes with Pals who cannot stay in the water if they run out.

The use of firearms is a good idea, as you can do this while riding your Pals, or you can have them fight Whalaska while you stand on the island and provide ranged support.

Whalaska is strong against Fire and Dragon attacks, while it is weak against Electric attacks. (Electric is recommended as Fire may be good against Ice, but Whalaska is also a Water Pal)

Defeating Whalaska (Nice Ice Lance) will reward you with the Whalaska Bounty Token, which provides you with Ice Damage Enhancement. (Large)

Verdict

Whalaska, Nice Ice Lance is quite slow in the water, and this gives you an advantage when fighting it if you can quickly move around.

Using an Electric Pal can be useful against this Field Boss if you plan on making use of the extra damage, but any Pal will do if you have the firepower to dish out damage to it.

Capturing Whalaska, Nice Ice Lance is advisable since the travel time to reach it can sometimes be long, and you can use the captured Pal for butchering or breeding later.
