The search for the missing heads that were taken from the Tree of Whispers continues and this time, Caidin needs your help in retrieving one so he can examine it.
Caidin requires the head as he needs to check the rot within them and will need you and Ouna to help him find one.
This requires that once again you and Ouna head out to search for the twin head of Azarine, Head of the Tree in Kehjistan.
The Crux of the Rot Quest Walkthrough
The quest begins with you going to Caidin to see if he needs help with anything and he will point you in the direction of Ouna as he needs you to find him a missing head.
Ouna speaks to one of the heads of the Tree of Whispers (Azarine) and the location of its twin is then revealed to be in Kehjistan.
You will then make your way to the Blistering Roothold found in the Blistering Strand and will need to enter and complete it.
Much like the other Roothold Dungeons, you will need to complete objectives before reaching the final boss at the end.
This involves completing performing Rites, Rituals, or Ceremonies and uprooting Exposed Roots and may proceed to the end after these objectives have been completed.
Reaching the Heart of the Brambles will result in you finding an Exposed Root and interacting with it will cause a boss called Enraged Fugitive Head.
Once you have defeated the Enraged Fugitive Head, Caidin will appear to examine the head, and speaking to him will start a short cutscene where a Strange Talisman is found.
Collect the Strange Talisman and speak to Caidin once more and after more dialogue with him, the quest will be complete.
The Crux of the Rot Quest Rewards
After obtaining the Strange Talisman and speaking to Caidin, The Crux of the Rot quest will come to an end and you will be rewarded with XP and Gold.
This will also allow you to continue the Seasonal Questline after you have another instance of the Whisper in the Winds repeatable quest.
Verdict
The importance of making sure to remove the rot from the heads before returning them to the Tree of Whispers is important to prevent them from being corrupted.
The Strange Talisman that you found appears to be similar to a witch’s talisman and there are further questions that need to be answered.
For now, Caidin will bring the head back to have it examined further and you have been instructed to continue seeking out more Whispers.
