Your previous search for one of the heads that were taken from the Tree of Whispers resulted in a talisman of unknown origin being found.
This talisman has been brought back for further investigation and regardless of the progress that has been made, time is running out.
A ritual must be done and the heads must be returned to find out what witch has defiled them, which will involve you helping out once again.
The Burden of Family Quest Walkthrough
Make your way to The Tree of Whispers and speak with Gelena, who will explain the matter at hand and you will proceed by heading to the Ritual Circle.
Interact with the Coven’s Ritual Circle to enter a dungeon state and this is where the ritual will begin, which involves you going through certain steps.
Each of the coven members will recite the name of the tree, and you will need to interact with each Ritual Brazier in the same order. (Left, Right, Top)
Your next step will require that you trace the pentagram in the Ritual Circle until it has been highlighted and Gelena will begin to speak.
Once Gelena finishes her chant, Headrotten enemies will appear and you must defeat them before Caidin takes his turn.
Caidin will begin his chant and this also spawns Headrotten enemies near him, which you must defeat before it will be Ouna’s turn.
Things take a twist after you defeat the Headrotten that spawn near Caidin as Ouna apologizes and runs away claiming that she needs to “save them.”
After Ouna runs off, Caidin runs after her and a Wicked Fugitive Head appears and you will need to help Gelena fight it.
The Wicked Fugitive Head will have a lot of health and will summon enemies alongside it, which you must need to fight until this boss has been defeated.
After defeating the summoned boss, you and Gelena will search for Caidin after you exit the Coven’s Ritual Circle. (Interact with the dungeon exit nearby)
Once you have made your way out of the Coven’s Ritual Circle, an area will be marked that shows where Caidin must be searched for.
Make your way to the south exit from the Tree of Whispers that leads to The Swamp of Vanished Souls and you will find Gelena and Caidin.
Speak to Gelena and after a short dialogue with the two of them speaking about what has happened, the quest will come to an end.
The Burden of Family Quest Rewards
After locating Caidin and speaking to Gelena, The Burden of Family quest will be complete and you will receive the following:
- XP
- Gold
- Herb Cache
You will also receive equipment and this may depend on your current level as we obtained a Legendary Amulet and Legendary Pants at Level 39.
The items we obtained were a Chain of Kinetic Suppression (Legendary Amulet) and Hectic Adventurer’s Pants (Legendary Pants) as rewards.
Verdict
After obtaining the talisman, the Coven suddenly found an urge to hurry up with returning the heads to the Tree of Whispers and it seems that it may have been a good decision.
It turns out that Ouna has taken part in something against the Coven and she will have to suffer the consequences of her actions even if she was planning to save something or someone.
Gelena and Caidin have decided to go after Ouna alone as this is a Coven matter and you have been instructed to continue with hunting Whispers to keep the Headrotten at bay.
