Spectral Ash is a currency that was added to Diablo 4 when Season 8: Belial’s Return became live and plays a huge role when it comes to Boss Powers.

1) Purchasing and Upgrading Boss Powers
Spectral Ash is used for upgrading your Boss Powers and this is vital for becoming stronger as you progress throughout Season 8: Belial’s Return.
By upgrading your Boss Powers, you will be increasing their ranks, which provide better stats for both the Main and Modifier Boss Powers.
The higher the rank you will upgrade a Boss Power to, the more Spectral Ash that will be needed, and this will require a lot if you want to upgrade all your equipped powers.

Best Way To Farm Spectral Ash
The best way to farm Spectral Ash is to defeat as many enemies as possible during the Apparition Incursion events and make sure to grab them.
Having a pet with you (equipped with your Wardrobe) will make things easier since it will grab them if you happen to be a bit further from the drops.
Be sure to defeat the Apparition Bosses and grab their loot and the same goes with Belial as you can get even more from him during the event.
When you have keys to do Lair Bosses, you may use them to get loot from defeating these bosses as well as Spectral Ash, so be sure to use them when you can.

While Spectral Ash can only be obtained from Apparition Incursions, Lair Bosses, and sometimes in other areas, they are not that hard to obtain.
It is recommended to move up to higher World Tiers such as Torment I and higher to increase the amount of Spectral Ash that you obtain.
