The Battle Pass has been one of the things that has brought players back into each season in Diablo 4 and with Season 8: Belial’s Return, things have changed.
Instead of the traditional Battle Pass that we all know of, the Reliquaries feature has been introduced, providing you with a different way to obtain Battle Pass rewards.

How Does The Reliquary System Work?
Instead of the traditional method where you farm Favor to increase your Battle Pass tier to obtain a reward, everything has been scrapped, and you now earn Favor Tokens.
Favor Tokens are used to purchase Cosmetic Items from the Reliquaries, which are collections of different cosmetics available during each season.
The Battle Pass Reliquary will always be free while additional Reliquaries may be unlocked later using Platinum, allowing you to spend Favor Tokens on other Cosmetic Items.
Obtaining Favor Tokens is easy as they are obtained by defeating enemies and completing quests during the season you are playing.
Reliquary Rewards
Reliquary Rewards are Cosmetic Items that can be purchased from Reliquaries, which as mentioned above are collections of different appearance items.
These will cost different amounts of Favor Tokens depending on which item you want to purchase and upon buying all the items in a Reliquary, you unlock a bonus one.
This makes it a good idea to buy everything available within a Reliquary to get a bonus from them.

How To Purchase Reliquary Rewards?
Once you have enough Favor Tokens, open the Reliquary that has the reward/s of your liking and select them to open the purchase screen.
You will be able to see the item and anything else included along with the amount of Favor Tokens needed for the purchase.
When you have made up your mind, select “Claim” and the purchase will be complete, provided you have enough Favor Tokens for it.
How To Get Favor Tokens?
Favor Tokens will be obtained from time to time as you continue playing throughout the season and whenever you get one, a notification will appear.
These will be generated based on the number of enemies you kill and the quests that you complete, which means you can obtain as many as you want until you reach the cap.
The limit for carrying Favor Tokens is capped at 99, which makes it important to spend them or else you won’t obtain any more until there is space for it.

Verdict
To make things short and simple, the Reliquary System has changed the old Battle Pass System so that you obtain Favor Tokens and use them to purchase Cosmetic Items.
This has made things much easier and eliminates the need to spend several hours having to get one or two items that you want and having to go through others.
While there may seem to be fewer Cosmetic Items available, it looks like the new cosmetics are looking amazing and now you can choose which specific ones you want to grab.
