A new feature has been added to Destiny 2 in Episode: Heresy and this is the Tome of Want, which is a way for guardians to get several rewards.
Those who have just started with the Act I: Echoed Warnings quest will eventually need to obtain the Tome of Want, which later allows you to accept a new quest.
Tome of Want: A Primer serves as an introduction to this new feature and using the tome often will allow you to get tons of rewards throughout Episode: Heresy.
How To Get Tome of Want: A Primer Quest?
The Tome of Want: A Primer quest becomes available from the Shaping Slab once you have obtained the Tome of Want.
This can be done once you have reached Rank 3 (Reputation) with the Shaping Slab and have acquired the tome. (They can be acquired after you get the tome)
Tome of Want: A Primer Quest Steps (Objectives)
Step 1: Activate a Ritual of Desire using the Tome of Want
This step is usually completed once you obtain the quest since the game provides you with a tutorial but if you happen to miss the quests are quite simple.
Open your inventory and select the Tome of Want, which will allow you to choose a Tome Engraving and a Taken Scripture under Ritual Rites.
Once these have been selected, you may activate the Ritual of Desire at the cost of 2 Essence of Desire, which will complete this quest step.
Step 2: Power up the Tome of Want’s active ritual to receive additional rewards
Now that a ritual has been activated, your next steps will be to power the tome and this can be done by doing the following:
- Completing playlist and Episode activities
- Defeating powerful combatants in Episode activities
- Defeating other Guardians
The Tome of Want will have a specific amount of charges and upon reaching full power, a charge will be consumed and you will obtain rewards from it. (Finish all 3 charges to complete this step)
Step 3: Activate a Ritual of Desire with a Legendary Crumbling Scripture using the Tome of Want; then complete an active ritual
After you have successfully obtained rewards from the Tome of Want, you will now need to repeat the steps but this time, using a Legendary Crumbling Scripture.
Legendary Crumbling Scriptures are obtainable from Episode Activity Chests, Destroyed Sigil Stones, and defeating other Guardians.
Some of the Legendary Crumbling Scriptures require that you obtain a certain amount of rewards before they can be used while others are available once you have unlocked them.
This means that you will have to grind for rewards from the Tome of Want using the Rare Scriptures to unlock the Legendary ones.
Step 4: Activate a Ritual of Desire with an Exotic Amorphous Scripture by using the Tome of Want; then complete an active ritual
Similar to Quest Step 3, you will need to use the Tome of Ritual to start a Ritual but this time, you will have to use an Amorphous Scripture.
Amorphous Scripture can be selected after you have chosen a Rare Reward Scripture and will replace a Legendary Crumbling Scripture.
Activating a Ritual of Desire using an Amorphous Scripture will require 5 Essence of Desire, unlike Legendary Crumbling Scriptures that require 2.
Step 5: Receive rewards from the Ritual of Desire
Using the Tome of Wants, you will need to obtain a total of 15 Ritual Rewards, which will then complete this quest.
These can be done using any of the Reward Scriptures that you have and each time rewards are obtained, this quest step will progress.
Verdict
Throughout Tome of Want: A Primer, you will be able to get your hands on a lot of loot since you will be completing several Rituals of Desire.
After completing the Tome of Want: A Primer, you should be familiar with how the Tome of Want works as well as the different rewards that it can provide.
Once you have started to delve more into The Nether, you will be able to obtain more Sigil Shards, Metastasized Essentia, Essence of Desire, and more for better progression.
