Alone in the Dark is a repeatable quest that Guardians may complete to locate Lost Ghosts that Micah-10 has requested you to help out with.
These quests will run you through a few activities where you locate the Lost Ghost, complete activities, and return to Micah-10.
Completing these quests will allow you to find all the Lost Ghost locations and bring them back safely to the Arbor of Light.
How To Get Alone in the Dark?
Alone in the Dark becomes available once players have met Micah-10 after progressing through The Final Shape campaign and have reached the Destined Heroes Exotic Quest.
You will be able to meet Micah-10 for the first time during quest step 3 of the Destined Heroes Exotic Quest.
Alone in the Dark Quest Steps
Step 1: Acquire this quest to begin another recovery operation
Micah-10 has found the location of another Ghost that has been injured and the first step to locating it will be to accept this quest. (Alone in the Dark)
- Acquire Alone in the Dark Quest (This is completed after accepting the quest from Micah)
Step 2: Find the lost Ghost within the search area
You will need to follow the waypoint that leads you to the area where the Lost Ghost may be found, which can be in different areas.
Once you reach the waypoint, you will need to search the areas for the Lost Ghost that will be on the ground with a yellowing-orange glow emitting from it.

Step 3: Open Overthrow chests near the location where you found the Ghost
Depending on where you found the Lost Ghost, you will need to head to the waypoint to reach the nearest Overthrow Location.
You will need to complete activities in the area, defeat enemies, and interact with chests or items that may be picked up to progress with the Overthrow.
Once Overthrow Chests appear after you progress, you will need to open enough of the chest to progress.
- Overthrow Location (This may change depending on where you found the Ghost)
Step 4: Commune with the bird of Light to invert the cyst
After you have opened enough Overthrow Chests, you will need to head to the waypoint that leads you to the Bird of Light.
You will have to follow the bird of Light that will lead you to a cyst that you need to complete, which acts as a mini-activity.

Step 5: Follow the vision of Light into the depths of the Pale Heart and fight the infection found there
Make your way through the cyst and clear the area, which may include doing certain activities and defeating a boss at the end. (Acts similar to a Lost Sector)

Step 6: Return to the Lost City’s Arbor of Light
After you have expressed the cyst, make your way back to the Arbor of Light and interact with the area marked by a waypoint to release the Ghost there.

Step 7: Visit Micah-10 for a reward
Now that you have rescued another injured Lost Ghost, you will need to return to Micah-10 to complete the quest and obtain your rewards.

Alone in the Dark Rewards
Completing the Alone in the Dark quest will provide you with a chance to get either the Bold Endings (Hand Cannon), Axial Lacuna (Fusion Rifle), or the False Idols (Sword.)
These will be given randomly unless shown amongst the first rewards for the first few runs you do of this quest, which are all from the Pale Heart Weapons collection.
You will also obtain a Ghost Reputation Increment for completing this quest and will be able to redo the quest after obtaining it from Micah-10 again.
Summary
With all the Lost Ghosts that need to be found, Micah-10 believes that doing this will be able to help the Traveler recover.
It seems that the Arbor of Light shows that the Lost Ghosts being returned has a significant impact that may be a sign of healing.
While you have rescued one or more Lost Ghosts, there will be more out there and Micah-10 needs your help to find them all.
