Destiny 2 New Gear Bonuses Explained with Tiers

With the release of The Edge of Fate, several new features were added to Destiny 2, and one of these is the New Gera Bonuses.

Since players would often wait for the next season to come out, they would be ready to carry on with whatever gear they had.

Things have changed now, and this includes everyone’s Power Level being reset to 10, but to help players catch up, New Gear Bonuses have been added.

What is New Gear Bonus?

The New Gear Bonus is a system that grants players PVE buffs based on the equipment they use, with a strong focus on encouraging the use of gear introduced in the current season.

Equipping new seasonal gear provides two main benefits, which are bonus damage for weapons and bonus damage resistance for armor.

Each weapon slot gains a damage bonus depending on the gear’s tier, while each armor piece offers a set amount of damage resistance.

Armor bonuses stack additively, meaning the total resistance increases by adding the values from each equipped piece.

New Gear Bonus Tiers

Weapons will gain more damage bonuses based on their tier for a specific weapon type (Kinetic, Energy, and Power Slot for a maximum of 10% each.

Armor, on the other hand, will gain additive bonuses based on the tier of each piece of armor you have, which can reach a maximum of 15% damage reduction.

Below are the tiers and the bonuses that are provided for new gear:

Weapons New Gear Bonus Tiers

  • Tier 1: 2%
  • Tier 2: 4%
  • Tier 3: 6%
  • Tier 4: 8%
  • Tier 5: 10%

Armor New Gear Bonus Tiers

  • Tier 1: 3%
  • Tier 2: 6%
  • Tier 3: 9%
  • Tier 4: 12%
  • Tier 5: 15%

How To Get New Seasonal Gear?

Just like with any other season, you can obtain new gear/seasonal gear by progressing through the main quest, side quests, and even activities.

As you continue to progress, you will be able to obtain different types of gear, and the tiers they have will be different from time to time.

Featured Gear

In addition to the bonuses provided by tiers of each weapon or armor, there are hand-picked exotics for each season.

Equipping these exotics will provide you with the maximum percentage of a bonus that their slot offers, making it a good idea to have one for an advantage.

Verdict

While the New Gear Bonus may not seem like much in the earlier stages of the game, having this bonus can be a huge help with PVE.

As you progress through the season, you will be able to obtain a lot of gear, and the higher the tier, the better the options you have with them, as well as New Gear Bonuses.

Having at least one Exotic Weapon and Armor can be a huge help and will be useful when you first start until the point where you have progressed through the season.
