How To Get The Metal Detector in Palworld

Several new items that were added in the Feybreak Update provide you with different advantages in the game while others are required for you to progress.

One of these items is the Metal Detector, which serves as one of the only ways for you to obtain Chromite, a resource needed for crafting better equipment.

Metal Detectors become available later on and won’t be needed at first but later on, you will find that Chromite Farming becomes a piece of cake with one of these on hand.

How To Get Metal Detector?

The Metal Detector can be learned once you reach Level 56, allowing you to unlock this tool (considered as a weapon) from your Technology Menu.

Once the Metal Detector has unlocked, you may craft this at a Production Assembly Line or similar crafting stations.

After crafting the Metal Detector, picking it up will have it sent to your inventory and you may equip it into one of the four weapon/tool slots that you have.

How To Use Metal Detector?

Using a Metal Detector is as simple as equipping it in your inventory, taking up one of the slots that your weapons or tools would normally take.

Once you switch to the Metal Detector, it will start to emit a pulse at a slow rate until you get closer to a Chromite Node, which causes the pulse to quicken.

As the pulse emitted from the Metal Detector quickens in the presence of Chromite, the pulse will also change to a reddish color as these hint that a node is nearby.

Once the Chromite Node is within proximity to you, it will appear after a bunch of dust comes out of the ground.

This serves as a way of obtaining Chromite, which is a material needed to craft Hexolite, an important resource needed when you reach higher levels.

Chromite Farming

Farming Chromite involves heading to the different caves, which are mainly where you find some of the Alpha Pals on Feybreak Island.

Using a Metal Detector is the only way for you to reveal the Chromite Nodes aside from using a Smokie to sniff them out with its Partner Skill.

When using a Metal Detector, it is advisable to have a Pickaxe in one of your other slots to switch between them and to avoid moving too far as the node will become hidden again.

Verdict

There are only two ways to find Chromite Nodes in the game, which are to use a Metal Detector (Best Method) or to use a Smokie, which needs to be captured first.

Using a Metal Detector is often the best choice since you may want to have other Pals in your party and since it continuously emits pulses unlike with Smokie as its skill has a cooldown.

Chromite can be farmed in large amounts but due to the large demand required for crafting tons of Hexolite, you may want to revisit the dungeons on Feybreak Island several times.
