Watchtowers are one of the new exploration features introduced with Palworld 1.0, giving you another way to uncover the massive world while creating useful travel points.
There are Watchtowers spread across the different regions of Palworld, including the main Palpagos Islands, Feybreak, Sunreach, and the World Tree.
Finding them all is worthwhile if you want to reveal the map, collect the Technology Points they provide, and create additional fast travel locations across the world.
What Do Watchtowers Do?
Watchtowers are tall structures that reveal a large section of the surrounding map when activated, clearing the fog of war from areas you may not have explored yet.
After reaching the top and interacting with the statue, the Watchtower becomes a permanent fast travel point that you can use alongside Palboxes and Great Eagle Statues.
Every activated Watchtower also rewards 1 Technology Point, giving you another small source of Technology Points while exploring the world.
Watchtowers do not contain bosses or special loot, so their main purpose is improving exploration and making it easier to travel between distant parts of the map.
All Watchtower Locations
There are currently 22 Watchtowers available in Palworld 1.0, with locations spread across Palpagos, Feybreak, Sunreach, and the World Tree.
The coordinates below use the game’s map coordinates for the main regions, while the World Tree locations are listed separately because their coordinate system differs.

- Sunreach Watchtower — (-292, -1494)
World Tree
The two World Tree Watchtowers use the World Tree’s source-world coordinate system, so these values should not be entered as normal Palpagos map coordinates.

- Gilded City Ruins Watchtower — (-1862, 1377)
How To Activate a Watchtower?
Finding a Watchtower is only the first step, because you still need to reach the platform at the top and interact with the statue to officially activate it.
The easiest method is using a flying Pal to reach the upper platform, although every Watchtower also has an updraft at its base that can launch you upward without requiring a flying Pal.
Once you reach the top, interact with the statue in the center of the structure to activate the Watchtower and trigger the map reveal.
After activation, the surrounding area becomes visible on your map and the Watchtower is added to your available fast travel locations.
Watchtower Travel Tips
Using the coordinates directly on your map is the easiest way to locate a Watchtower, especially when the surrounding terrain makes the structure difficult to spot from a distance.
Flying Pals make most Watchtowers considerably easier to reach, but the updraft at each tower means you can still climb them without having a flying Pal available.
Pay attention to the region before setting out, since several Watchtowers are located in extreme cold, desert, volcanic, or otherwise hazardous areas.
Unlocking Watchtowers as you naturally travel through each region is also more efficient than making a separate trip for every tower, since each one immediately becomes another fast travel destination.
Do Watchtowers Have Enemies or Bosses?
Watchtowers are completely different from the faction towers where you fight Palworld’s major bosses, and activating one does not start a combat encounter.
There is no boss waiting at the top and no special battle required to claim the location, so you can activate a Watchtower without preparing for a major fight.
The reward is focused entirely on exploration, giving you a Technology Point, revealing the surrounding map, and adding another fast travel destination.
Watchtowers vs Tower Bosses
Watchtowers are designed for exploration, while Tower Bosses are major combat locations tied to Palworld’s progression and faction story.
A Watchtower requires you to reach the top and interact with its statue, whereas a faction tower takes you into a boss encounter against a powerful trainer and Pal.
The two structures can look similar from a distance, but they serve completely different purposes and should not be confused when following map coordinates.
Should You Activate Every Watchtower?
You do not need to activate every Watchtower to complete Palworld, but collecting them all makes the world significantly easier to navigate.
The additional fast travel points are especially useful when you regularly move between distant regions for resources, Alpha Pals, quests, dungeons, or other exploration activities.
The map reveal is also valuable because it exposes nearby terrain and locations that might otherwise remain hidden behind the fog of war.
For completionists, activating all 22 Watchtowers is also a straightforward exploration objective that can be completed alongside normal world exploration.
Best Time To Hunt Watchtowers
The best approach is to activate Watchtowers while exploring each region rather than waiting until the end of the game and making a dedicated trip across the entire map.
Early Watchtowers are easy to reach and provide useful fast travel points, while later towers become more valuable as you begin traveling regularly through Feybreak, Sunreach, and the World Tree.
If you are deliberately collecting every tower, group nearby locations together and plan a route through each region to reduce unnecessary flying and ground travel.
Verdict
Watchtowers are a simple but useful addition to Palworld 1.0, giving exploration a clear objective while adding more convenient fast travel points across the expanded world.
They are especially useful for players who want to uncover the entire map, since activating one reveals the surrounding region instead of requiring you to explore every section manually.
With 22 Watchtowers currently available, tracking down every location is well worth doing if you want a fully revealed map and the most convenient fast travel network possible.
