The Mercenary Den (Simply known as The Den) is a hideout for the Mercenaries of the Pale Hand that unlocks once you progress through the Vessel of Hatred Campaign.
New features have been added with the release of the expansion, which now includes being able to hire mercenaries to join you in your battles.
Unlocking The Den will not provide you with much at first but once you progress by completing the quests for each of the Mercenaries, this hideout will have more to offer.
How To Unlock The Den?
The Mercenary Den will be unlocked once you have progressed through the Vessel of Hatred Campaign that was introduced in Season 6.
This happens when you travel with Eru and Raheir to The Den as you make your escape from the Burned Knights. (Unlocks after The Hand Remembers The Blade Quest)
Once you have completed The Hand Remembers The Blade, you will be able to return to The Den at any time and later upgrade it by doing certain Mercenary Quests.
The Mercenary Den Location
The Mercenary Den is located in the Nahantu region and is one of the earlier safe zones that you unlock in the Vessel of Hatred Campaign.
You may find The Den in the Lingering Hatred area of Nahantu and may reach it fastest if traveling from Gea Kul. (Kurast Bazaar is close but you will unlock The Den by then)
Once you have been to The Mercenary Den, you may fast travel to this location whenever you wish to return to it. (The Mercenary Den waypoint is located inside)
The Mercenary Den Features
Once you have unlocked The Mercenary Den, you will be able to gain access to mercenaries that you can hire to join you and enlist for reinforcement.
The following are the other features/services available in the Mercenary Den:
Services
Just like with any other town, you may find that The Den features some services that allow you to resort to it when you need certain things done.
- Guild Coffers (Rings & Amulets Merchant)
- Stash (Your Storage)
- Raheir’s Anvil (Blacksmith)
- Cursed Toy Box (Occultist)
- Fayira (Bartering)
Mercenaries
There are 4 Mercenaries that you can choose from when you hire them to accompany you as well as when you enlist one to back you up in an emergency.
- Subo (Bounty Hunter) – Unlocked by completing A Feather On The Scale
- Varyana (Berserker Crone) – Unlocked by completing Slayer’s Retribution
- Raheir (Shield-Bearer) – Unlocked by completing The Hand Remembers the Blade
- Aldkin (Cursed Child) – Unlocked by completing A Nameless Mystery
How To Unlock Cursed Toy Box?
The Cursed Toy Box acts as an Occultist, providing you with the same services such as Imprinting, Sigil Crafting, and Item Enchantment.
This will be unlocked once you have completed the same quest needed to recruit Aldkin, which is A Nameless Mystery.
Upon completion of A Nameless Mystery, the Cursed Toy Box will be available, and you may fully utilize its features. (Cursed Toy Box is found near Aldkin)
How To Unlock Bartering?
Bartering allows you to obtain precious loot based on how much you have progressed with each of your Mercenaries.
This feature becomes available when any of your Mercenaries reach Rank 5 after you have gained enough Rapport for them.
Once a Mercenary has reached Rank 5, you may complete the Bartering Quest, which simply requires you to talk to Fayira in The Den.
Verdict
The Den is a great place to kick back and work on some of the Season 6 and Vessel of Hatred progress that is related to it.
Progressing with the Mercenaries that you have unlocked allows you to make the most out of The Den, especially when it comes to Bartering.
Making sure that you have hired a Mercenary and enlisted another as backup is a good way to improve your chances of survival out in the open.
