As you take a look around The Mercenary Den, you find a Brutal Note that has been pinned to a bloody stake with the head of a cannibal on it.
The letter reveals that the writer, who is not that gifted with words, intends on heading to the Temple of Rot to seek out revenge.
Raheir knows who this is but due to his injury, you appear to be the better candidate to help the writer, who is later introduced as Varyana with her goal.
How To Get Slayer’s Retribution Quest?
The Slayer’s Retribution Quest can be started by interacting with the Brutal Note that is found in the northeast part of The Mercenary Den.

Slayer’s Retribution Quest Walkthrough
Before you proceed with this quest, you will want to make sure that you have conquered the Temple of Rot Stronghold. (Do this first and you can continue)
A Blood-Scribed Sign may be found at the Temple of Rot and its location will be marked and this sends you on a search for the Fetid Larder.
The entrance to the Fetid Larder may be found outside of the Temple of Rot and you may enter by interacting with the Dead Cannibals.
Once you are in the Fetid Larder, make your way to the room where Varyana is being held and slay the enemies blocking your way.
After taking care of the enemies, head over to Varyana and attack the Chain Pillars to release her from captivity.
Varyana will be filled with bloodlust and will attempt to kill you, which requires you to fight back until she surrenders.
Speak with Varyana and it will be revealed that Varyana had been betrayed and she is going after those who have wronged her to get her vengeance.
Varyana heads outside and you will need to follow her and speak with her again before you join her on her quest to kill the chieftains that banished her.
The first target will be Grelkar and to get to him, you will need to find some Cannibals that are loyal to the chieftain.
Kill the Cannibals and pick up the Hand of Invitation which will give you a clue to where Grelkar’s Feast Hall is located.
Together with Varyana, you will make your way to Grelkar’s Feast Hall and kill Grelkar the Raven before you continue searching for Zolmog.
With Grelkar dead, Varyana needs to perform a ritual (during a cutscene) which helps her figure out where Zolmog is located.
Speak with Varyana who has gone outside and continue by heading to the marked location to find a boat that you may use to sneak into Guulrahn.
Once you reach Guulrahn, make your way through the Streets of Carnage until you find Zolmog, then kill him.
The two of you reach a gate and before proceeding, you will need to speak to Varyana as she has a plan on how to get close to Zolmog.
Make your way through the enemies and speak to Zolmog, which will begin a short scene where Varyana threatens him.
You will need to deal with the Cannibals in the area before fighting Zolmog and his Blackguard, which will exact Varyana’s vengeance.
Speak to Varyana once Zolmog is dead and this will result in you sparing her, which causes her to head to The Den, completing the quest.
Slayer’s Retribution Rewards
Once you have spoken to Varyana after killing Zolmog, the quest will be complete and you will receive 3 Rare Items along with XP, Gold, and Murmuring Obols.
Completion of this quest unlocks Varyana as a mercenary that you can hire later when you return to The Mercenary Den.
Verdict
Varyana has been twisted, betrayed, and tormented but with your help, she was able to exact her vengeance upon those who wronged her.
She offered her life to you after the attempt she made on yours but now that you have spared her, she has other plans.
Varyana leaves with a maniacal laugh as she sets off to go to The Mercenary Den and will now be available to join you if you decide to hire her.
