Varyana is known as the Berserker Crone, who features abilities similar to a Barbarian but with a twist of being a bloodthirsty maniac.
You previously got her to join back with the group of mercenaries known as The Pale Hand by helping her exact her revenge as well as sparing her life.
Varyana excels at dealing damage to enemies both physically and causing them to bleed and also does a fine job when it comes to crowd control.
How To Unlock Varyana?
Varyana can be unlocked as a Mercenary by obtaining her quest in The Mercenary Den, which is done by interacting with the Brutal Note around the north of the den.
Once you interact with the Brutal Note, you will be able to start a quest called Slayer’s Retribution, which has you assisting Varyana on a quest for vengeance.

Massacre
You and Varyana stack Massacre together when the two of you kill enemies, which grants a certain bonus to your movement speed based on the number of stacks.
This provides you with the following:
- 10 Stacks: 5% Movement Speed
- 25 Stacks: 10% Movement Speed
- 50 Stacks: 15% Movement Speed
- 100 Stacks: 20% Movement Speed
Massacre will reset after 7 seconds if you have not killed an enemy.
Varyana Core Skills
1) Cleave
Varyana swings two axes in an arc to deal damage to enemies in front of her and also cause them to take Bleeding damage over 4 seconds.
Choosing Cleave as Varyana’s Core Skill will equip her with Dual Axes, allowing her to use Double Strike to deal physical damage with a chance to cause Bleeding.
Cleave Talents Include:
- Hysteria – you can 1% increase Attack Speed for 5 seconds whenever Varyana damages an enemy, which can reach up to 10%.
- Recklessness – Varyana’s Cleave inflicts Vulnerable on enemies for 3 seconds.
2) Shockwave
Varyana slams the ground for a brutal shockwave in front of her to deal physical damage and knock down enemies for 2 seconds.
Selecting Shockwave as a Core Skill will change Varyana’s weapon to a Two-Handed Mace that lets her use Heavy Strike to damage enemies with a 20% Critical Strike Chance.
Shockwave Talents Include:
- Crushing Force – Varyana has a 30% chance to knock down enemies for two seconds when she deals damage to them
- Reprisal – When you are Crowd Controlled, Varyana will leap towards the enemy that caused it and will attack them to deal physical damage and knock down surrounding enemies for 2 seconds on impact. (Has a 12-second cooldown)
Varyana Mercenary Iconic Skills
1) Bloodthirst (Under Cleave)
Varyana enters Bloodthirst, granting her 30% Attack Speed and 200% Movement Speed along with her becoming Unstoppable for 7 seconds. (You gain 10% Attack Speed for the same duration)
Bloodthirst Talents Include:
- Intimidated – Enemies near Varyana will deal 10% reduced damage while she is affected by Bloodthirst
- Bloodlust – Further increases your Attack Speed by 5% when Varyana is affected by Bloodthirst
2) Whirlwind (Under Cleave)
Varyana spins violently in a line, which repeatedly deals Physical damage and causes enemies to take Bleeding damage over 5 seconds.
Whirlwind Talents Include:
- No Escape – Varyana’s Whirlwind Pulls In enemies every 1.5 seconds and gains 60% size
- Taste of Flesh – Dealing direct damage to an enemy inflicted with any of Varyana’s Bleeding effects will heal you for 1% of your Maximum Life.
3) Earth Breaker (Under Shockwave)
Crushing the ground with her mace, Varyana leaves a tremor that deals physical damage over 3 seconds and repeatedly knocks down enemies.
Earth Breaker Talents Include:
- Rampage – You deal 15% increased damage to enemies afflicted by any of Varyana’s Crowd Control effects
- Dismembering – Enemies that are damaged by Varyana’s Earth Breaker are left exposed, causing your next attacks against them to be a Guaranteed Overpower for the next 3 seconds. (This may only happen on the same target every 5 seconds)
4) Ancient Harpoons (Under Shockwave)
Varyana Launches three harpoons that pierce Enemies to deal physical damage and pulls them towards her, stunning them for 2 seconds.
Ancient Harpoon Talents Include:
- Annihilator – Varyana’s Ancient Harpoons slow enemies by 40% for 3 seconds, which also provides you with a 30% Lucky Hit Chance against them during the duration.
- Vayrana’s Ancient Harpoons travel 33% farther and reduce enemies’ Impairment Resistance by 50% for 5 seconds.
Verdict
Varyana can be a good companion to have when it comes to slaughtering groups of enemies, especially since she can clear dungeons quite fast.
Her ability to deal heaps of damage to enemies as well as set up situations where you can take advantage of crowd-controlled targets makes her useful in more difficult fights.
While Varyana bears a resemblance to a Barbarian, her talents and capabilities prove that she is decent for both supporting and dealing damage.
