Pale Marks are a new currency that was added with the arrival of the Vessel of Hatred Expansion, which introduced The Mercenary Den.
Progressing through the Main Campaign unlocks the Bartering feature, and this provides you with the chance to purchase valuable equipment from Fayira.
These purchases however can only be made with Pale Marks, which can be obtained in two different ways if you have hired a Mercenary.
How To Get Pale Marks?
Mercenary Rapport
Each Mercenary that you have unlocked will allow you to obtain Rapport, which acts as a type of experience system.
You will be able to obtain Rapport for a Mercenary by completing activities or killing worthy foes while they are hired.
Once you reach a certain Rapport Rank, you will be able to collect rewards from them, which will include Mercenary Rapport among some of the rank rewards.
Mercenary Events
Mercenary Events may trigger from time to time as you are out exploring, and these events may be related to one of the mercenaries that you have unlocked.
Mercenary Events may trigger from time to time as you are out exploring with one of your Mercenaries hired.
Your Mercenary will notify you of the event with dialogue and like normal events, you may participate in them to get rewards.
Amongst the rewards that you get from opening the chest after the vent will be Pale Marks along with other loots.
Best Way To Farm Pale Marks
To get the most Pale Marks in a small amount of time, it would be best to hire a Mercenary and level up their Rapport Rank until you reach the highest rank.
Collect all the rewards, including the Pale Marks before moving on to hiring another Mercenary and repeat this process until all of them have reached the max rank.
Once there are no more rewards to claim, you will be able to farm Pale Marks by exploring areas and waiting for Mercenary Events to appear.
Pale Mark Uses
Pale Marks are used to making purchases from Fayira and this happens when you visit The Mercenary Den and speak with her.
Speaking of Fayira will open the Bartering Menu, which allows you to purchase certain items or restock the supply at the cost of Pale Marks.
Depending on what item you purchase or how many times you restock the supply, the cost of Pale Marks will be different.
Verdict
Farming Pale Marks often takes more time than usual since you will need to explore more to get activities to spawn when you are out with your Mercenaries.
Each Mercenary will have rewards for their Rapport Rank that will provide you with a good number of Pale Marks to start with and afterward, you will need to rely on Mercenary Events.
It is wise to conserve your Pale Marks and avoid using them to restock supplies as this is costly and you can always restock them for free daily.
