In Season 9, Diablo 4 introduced a new endgame activity called Escalating Nightmares, which is a set of 3 Nightmare Dungeons that you can delve through.
Upon completion of the 3 dungeons within an Escalating Nightmare, you eventually get to face a boss called Astaroth for tons of rewards.
The first thing you will need to do, though, is get yourself Escalation Sigils, as these are used to activate an Escalating Nightmare, and doing this is pretty simple.
Where To Get Escalation Sigil?
Escalation Sigils are obtained from Horadric Strongrooms, which can be encountered while you are running Nightmare Dungeons.
These can be entered by locating a Horadric Gateway and activating it to open up a portal that leads to the strongroom.
Horadric Strongrooms may appear in both Nightmare Dungeons and Escalating Nightmares, making them easy to farm once you can clear them quickly.
How To Get Escalation Sigil?
Escalation Sigils may be obtained by completing Horadric Strongrooms, which provide you with a Horadric Cache at the end.
Upon opening the Horadric Cache, several rewards will drop, and some of them may be Escalating Sigils depending on your luck.
Completing a Horadric Strongroom on Torment I and higher difficulties gives you a better chance of finding these. (Sigils with the “Horadric Strongroom” affix guarantee this.)
Escalation Sigil Uses
Escalation Sigils are used to activate Escalating Nightmares, which, as mentioned earlier, are a set of Nightmare Dungeons that eventually lead to a fight in Astaroth’s Lair.
These dungeons provide you with a more challenging map as you continue from one to the other, and provide you with several rewards as you progress through them.
Now that Escalating Nightmares are a permanent activity, they are one of the endgame activities that can be done to get various items and crafting materials.
