Equipment plays a big part when it comes to your character’s build and as you progress with your level and move up to higher difficulties, you will need better items.
Each piece of equipment has a certain Item Power, which represents how good the item is, which makes it best to have Ancestral Gear or Mythic Ancestral Gear.
Upon reaching the Torment Difficulties, you will be able to loot some of the better gear, with higher difficulties providing you with better rewards.
What Are Ancestral Items?
Ancestral Items are considered the pinnacle equipment in Diablo 4, which will have an Item Power of 800, which is the highest you can get in the game.
These endgame items will always come with at least one 1 Greater Affix but there is a possibility that they can have more.
Another great thing about Ancestral Items is that they can be tempered up to 12 times, allowing you to greatly increase their stats.
Both Legendary and Mythic items can come as Ancestral Items, but these are mostly rare and will appear more often in Torment III and Torment IV World Tiers.
How To Get Ancestral Items?
Ancestral Items start dropping once you reach Torment I and will drop more often as you make your way to Torment IV World Tiers.
You can get Ancestral Items in several ways as they will drop just like regular Legendary Weapons would as you defeat enemies, open chests, and more.

Best Way To Get Ancestral Items
One of the best ways to get Ancestral Items is to do the Infernal Hordes activity as this provides you with a chance to get tons of loot.
After defeating The Council, you can choose to trade in your Burning Aether for equipment, and at higher difficulties, the rewards get even better.
The Infernal Hordes can be quite a grind at first but once you start doing the activity with a set of equipment with 800 Item Power, it gets easier.
Types of Ancestral Items
There are two types of Ancestral Items, which are Ancestral Legendary Items and Ancestral Mythic Items, which are considered the best equipment to get your hands on.
Starting from Torment I, Ancestral Legendary Items may drop while Ancestral Mythic Items will be rare until you start moving up to the other difficulties.
The idea is to equip your character with Ancestral Legendary Items (Including Uniques) until you are strong enough for the higher difficulties.
Verdict
Farming Ancestral Gear can be done as early as Torment I but you won’t always get the best equipment since the goal is to farm on higher difficulties.
Once you have reached Torment, your first step should be to equip your character with stronger gear and afterward, you can farm for Ancestral Items.
After reaching World Tier III and IV, you can expect more Ancestral Mythic Items to drop but you should be prepared to face tougher enemies.
